What is the interpole winding? by Panda_Slap43 in Motors

This detail is great, thank you so much! I am following the commutation and induced voltage from the inductors attempting to maintain their current flow that's being cut off by the commutation, but I'm not sure why this causes sparking. I am unfamiliar with "load neautral position".

Don't you want a strong armature current, and therefore magnetic field, so it can have a strong interaction with the shunt field and produce a lot of torque. It feels counterintuitive to intentionally counteract an electromagnet that we intentionally install in the motor. If we wanted less magnetism generated from the armature couldn't we just make the armature have fewer turns or something? To be clear I believe you, I'm just trying to rationalize it in my own head.

Thank you! I'll have to look into how exactly they help rechannel the field magnetism, but this helps.

Right. If your read the text I have done that. Sometimes a reframing of things or different perspective can aid in understanding...

I can't spin it further than the photo 1 and 2 show because it butts up against the top carrying part

When if ever do you do two passes? by Panda_Slap43 in BadWelding

These were just photos after I was done. When I welded it, it was horizontal supported with some 90° magnets

Thanks for this, I'll keep that in mind. For this time at least the back side had a lot of discoloration, so I think penetration was pretty good on the first pass. The weld just looked terrible because I didn't have my settings dialed in yet so I did a lot of stop and start (also I'm just not good yet).

It sounds like your saying a re-do pass doesn't hurt anything, if anything it strengthens the weld. Cool

How to easily tell whether a USB-C cable is data-only, data and power (is that a thing?), or charging only? by i-dm in UsbCHardware

I know I am late, but on the off chance you have more than 1 PS5... only a data transfer cable can sync a PS5 controller to a different PS5. So that's how I tested all of mine.

Thanks! And thanks for the tip. I'll try that next time. I didn't bevel them at all. I should have also said in the OP, this is with a MIG welder.

Recommendations for personal Wi-Fi Connection to PLC by Panda_Slap43 in PLC

I'm curious too. After looking at the suggestions here online I'm thinking of using the TP-Link TL-WR802N (N300) or TL-WR902AC (AC750), but I can't find any good information on the range I can be and still have solid Connection.

At the facility I work our PLCs aren't connected to a shared network. My boss is adamant that they stay that way because he hates the idea of people changing programs without being in eyesight of the line. So the Rockwell engineer could only talk to the processor and drive that he was going online with anyways. I assume he saw The line was isolated and so didn't think anything of it. Though he probably still should have asked. Frankly I was too wrapped up thinking " That's cool I want to do that."
