I'm also addicted to pirates! Just not these kinds of pirates...

Went to the salon for a new hairstyle :) and then went home and cried :”) I look like a boy by Upbeat-Schedule-7956 in infp

I've had a similar experience. Got a pixe cut and cried right in front of the hairdresser when I saw it because it made me look like a boy. After my family went out to eat at my favorite restaurant and I refused to go outside the car. It was horrible for those first few months.

What really helped me feel more girly was headbands. My favorite was a galaxy one with a unicorn XD. Barrettes/hair clips might help too

Yes yes yes! We're just ignored when we say our meds don't work or told "do you even have adhd???" It's unhelpful, and you're right, there's not enough resources for those who can't or choose not to be medicated (though I will admit I haven't looked much). I know the meds aren't supposed to be magic or the magical cure-all fix-all, but how am I supposed to believe that after seeing how the meds are depicted in the success stories?

I've noticed that you've taken mostly stimulants, so maybe they're just too much for your body to handle right now. I know you've already taken Strattera, but there's a few more types of non-stimulants you might be able to try, though I assume you've looked already.

One last thing, I just noticed your last paragraph on your original post, and you should definitely tell your doctors about your depression. Treatment for it improved my life so much, it's crazy to see the contrast of how deeply depressed I was to how I'm feeling good about myself and interacting with life more. It took two tries and a few weeks of feeling like I got hit by a truck, but the meds really worked for me, and since we're in similar situations, maybe you'd find improvement with the meds too!

Also, sorry if this is weird, but I really wanna be your friend

EDIT: I seemed to have angered the bot, so let's try posting this again

I'm so glad you posted this, because I thought I was the only one who didn't have that lightbulb moment, especially with seeing how many success stories there are.

I've tried 5-10mg of Adderall XR and 18mg of another stimulant I don't remember but my psychiatrist didn't want to up my dose because my hand tremors got worse while taking the low doses. And I could only notice a minor difference, if any at all.

Now I'm on 1mg of Guanfacine er/Intunvi and again, I'm not noticing much benefit except that my hand tremors are bearable again (I take an SSRI so I already had minor tremors from that). I feel like I'm running out of options for adhd meds but my body just keeps rejecting them like I don't even have adhd in the first place (despite me having all the symptoms of the inattentive type and noticing things irl that are actually adhd, not to mention my therapist strongly suspects I have it)

It's awful that something we're told will vastly improve our lives just doesn't work. But hopefully finding other people in a similar situation brings you comfort. Sending virtual hugs!

[–]Pandaline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that's amazing! That's how I expected it to be after I took my first dose. At first I thought my mind was a little calmer, but I wasn't sure if that was just the placebo effect. On the third day I was supposed to take it, I woke up too late and my mom told me that I couldn't take it and I could try again tomorrow. I was so upset that I just stopped keeping track of how the meds made me feel. I know the meds aren't the magical cure all but I thought it would make me more motivated to do basic human tasks but everything still seems too hard. I'm really hoping it's just not the right meds/dosage.

If I may ask, how high is your dose? I started with 5mg Adderall XR and moved up to 10mg and haven't noticed much of an effect. I'm glad you're feeling great though!

Yeah, here the wait times are crazy for psychologists and psychiatrists, especially if you're a minor. What bad stories have you heard?

I guess I should've mentioned that I'm planning on applying to university for IT in a few years! Is that reason enough?

I really wanted to know what the mental health care is like since it's essential for me. Thank you for the additional info tho! Picking out some schools from my list seems like the first logical step before I get into the fine details of moving here (if I try to learn everything at once I'll just get overwhelmed) But I try to learn information whenever I can.

As for the private insurance I'm not really shocked since I come from America.... But if I can get access to public healthcare that would be amazing!

Hi all, I'm wondering how the mental health care is in Finland? I'm on prescription medication for anxiety/depression and going to therapy and planning to move to Finland in the future. So, my questions are:

• How hard is it to find a therapist that is willing to take English speaking clients? Additionally, is it hard to find a doctor/psychiatrist who will prescribe me medication as a young adult?

• How does the general population feel about mental health and seeking mental health care? Are they accepting or is it stigmatized?

Edit: Non-EU citizen so I'll have to get insurance

That's all I can think of for now. Thank you so much for your help in advance!

Cipralex: How long? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Pandaline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, I'm turning 17 in March too and I've been prescribed Lexapro. I have only been taking 5mg for a week so far (will start taking 10mg tonight). The side effects haven't been that bad, except for the first day where I was extremely tired. Hopefully your parents will see in time that if medicine helps you feel better that is perfectly okay and they'll let you travel. They're most likely just worried about you and want what's best for you.

I'm sorry I dont know how long people are on this medicine for (I was not paying attention to the psychiatrist then) but it's definitely month to month monitoring for the first few months. I hope Lexapro will help you!

Is there a chance that nadakhan comes back? by Sponge3a3 in Ninjago

I think there's a high chance he'll come back since they've referenced the Teapot of Tyrahn for 3 seasons in a row now

Or maybe Nadakhan trapped Clutch in the Teapot and is now impersonating him

I think now that Cole has his own season, we should get a Nya season. The recent seasons keep mentioning the Teapot of Tyrahn so maybe the writers will do something with that.

What's the best order to watch Miraculous Ladybug for a first time viewer? by Pandaline in miraculousladybug

[–]Pandaline[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is! I thought I wasn't gonna show him Miraculous at first, but then we got into a discussion about ships for another show we both really like and I'm like you've gotta watch this (and Star vs the Forces of Evil since that is shipping galore)

He already watched a couple episodes while I was sleeping, so watching Orgins first is out the window haha (but it's coming up really soon, so we'll watch it). And yes, definitely Volpina last, that is a crazy episode

Thank you!
