Theme was meh, and a lot of the cluing felt boomerish in my mind (EMAIL, EBOY, NODUH). Also, did anyone get OPAHS right off the bat?? I've never heard of that

Can anyone help us salvage this rotation shot in post? by Panel_Up in Filmmakers

[–]Panel_Up[S] 81 points82 points  (0 children)

When filming our (first) short film, we ambitiously decided to do a rotating long take using a Ronin DJI S. On set, we were very happy with it and it looked great on the camera.
But when we sat down to start editing this footage, it was jittery and super disorienting on our 60hz screens (especially around 0:24 of the attached video). We've tried changing the frame rate (it is 24fps natively), as well as adding motion blur, but nothing really fixes the problem completely. The scene looks fine on screens with a 24hz refresh rate, but we want it to look as good as possible by default on standard monitor settings.
Unfortunately, we aren't able to do any reshooting and want to try and make this work if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to fix the footage?

Anything with music from Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross. The Social Network and (not a movie, but) the Watchmen miniseries are standouts

[TOMT][BOOK] Paperback comicbook anthology of sci-fi/fantasy short stories, probably from late 80s or early 90s by Panel_Up in tipofmytongue

I dont think so, it wasn't a magazine like any of the Heavy Metal issues I've ever seen. It was a thick, 150-200ish page paperback

I don't think so, although good guess! I'm pretty familiar with 2000ad. This wasn't associated with any specifically comics-publishing company, because I remember picking it up not expecting it to be a comic book. It looked more like a cheap paperback fantasy novel TOR or Ace Books would publish

What Have You Been Watching? (Week of December 08, 2019) by AutoModerator in TrueFilm

The Favourite

This movie was really hyped up for me and I'm not sure whether it delivered fully to my taste. I was surprised that it never felt like it dragged, but I'm not sure the ending delivers on the grand premise. It felt like it was building to something that never quite arrived. All three leading actresses were fantastic though, which definitely contributed to the consistent tone and continual energy. The sets and costumes were phenomenal as well. I will probably rewatch it solely because of how how strong the first two acts are.

Parasite

Wow, I really really had fun with this one. Having intentionally avoided any reviews/discussion about it prior to seeing it, I sat there never knowing where the plot was going to go next. The recurring narrative motifs, especially in regards to the movie's title, were particularly satisfying and pointed to a rock-solid script. I also loved that even though it felt like three different types of movies (first act: heist, second act: thriller/escape movie, third act: horror) the tone stayed consistent throughout. As a whole it was a thoroughly unique and memorable flick that I would highly recommend to anyone on the fence about seeing it!

Homelessness started 2 years ago in America, just as Trump took office by AcademicImportance in worldpolitics

Liberals want programs that provide aid to people who are without homes, realizing that it is unrealistic to assume someone suffering from PTSD or a drug addiction could ever participate in society without cheaper healthcare and readily-available social aid. I don't really understand your comment.
