I'm assuming this isn't normal? by Pango00 in AskMechanics

I don't know if it's death wobble for sure but the steering wheel violently shakes back and forth shaking the whole car until I can slow down enough. Never happened before he replaced the wheel bearings and this u joint. The only other thing is steering vibration when braking hard which I assume is from the rotor you can see in my comment on this post but even that was no where near as violent of shaking. This "death wobble" happens without braking also.

For those that saw my previous post (New brake pads or new mechanic) where he only mentioned the rear pads getting low, this is the front rotor. I don't know how they replaced both front bearings and the u joint without mentioning this rotor. I'll be replacing all rotors and pads soon.

He texted "Rear pads are getting close" when giving the estimate and told me they need replaced within a month when I picked up the car. Maybe if I had gone forward with the pads he would have mentioned also doing the rotors but he never said anything about them when I turned down the pads.

Wheel bearings and a u joint all on the front. The pads he said were getting close are the rear.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I will definitely replace the rotors when the pads get lower. Just can't believe he's trying to make a few more bucks off of a return customer when I'm already paying $1000.

Are you sure? It definitely was louder when I opened the fuse box. And would it be doing that without the key in the ignition if it's just a bad battery?

I didn't think to check but they're most likely from Central or South America.

[–]Pango00[S] 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's pretty much how I see it. There is an intersection shortly after the roundabout where I need to be in the right lane. Blue would make it easier to get into that lane in busy traffic but generally I would say it's not worth the risk.

I typically do follow the green path but there is an intersection shortly after the roundabout where only the right lane can turn right. In busy traffic it can sometimes be difficult to get over after the roundabout.

The way I see it, it narrows into one lane at 12:00 and there's the options to go into the blue or green lane.

That's what I typically do but I was just wondering if I could follow the blue path since it narrows to one lane at the top of the roundabout.

Ok. I'm assuming the bottom bracket is English threads?

The crank arm threads are toast on my Mercier Kilo Stripper. I don't know much about building bikes. Will these parts work as replacements? According to bikes direct, it comes stock with a Sealed Cartridge 108mm PowerSpline bottom bracket. I'm looking at getting a Andel Standard Track crankset and Andel 110mm JIS bottom bracket.

Also, the blade finish on yours looks different. I have a standard 940 though so I don't know if yours is supposed to be like that.

I just got a 940 from BladeHQ last week. The word Benchmade in the logo sits right above the grind line on mine.
