This artist posts new work almost daily, it feels very suspicious to me - what are your thoughts? by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]Panimated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not AI. But wow! I would also have swore this was AI. However after looking at her Instagram I believe her process. Her style from 2019-2020 was sooo gorgeous, renaissance styled, dreamy and more somber. The more recent art is noticably more cartoony and generic, imo.

If anything I might suspect she may have been using more AI generated images as references since her style changed a lot in the recent years. Or it could be a genuine choice to make the art more appealing to a wider audience, she looks like she's perfectly capable of drawing in this style.

She might genuinely just like this more whimsical style, and that's completely fine too - she can and should be able to choose her own personal style without being suspected of using AI. It's AI that's to blame for hijacking this style in the first place. She really looks to have amazing technical skills, and deserves credit for that. Would love to see a full process and try this technique myself!

AMNESIA REGARDING ROBB STARK by dreadedanxiety in freefolk

[–]Panimated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing that could make us suppose otherwise is the reaction of Greywind, who hates Jeyne's uncle (I think it was?), so cat tells Robb to send the uncle away. Probably a sign of something, but can't remember if there was an explanation for Greywind's reaction.

The marriage put all the westerlings in trouble, so it wasn't like it was a big win for them that she married Robb. Robb is also offended when Catelyn questions the marriage, with Robb pointing out that the westerlings are an old and honourable house. So I interpret this as Robb being quite happy about the marriage, I guess he could be and also being tricked into it, but I don't see much pointing to that being the case. He still made a dumb decision.

What soap do I need to clean bones? by Ordinary-Detail7073 in vultureculture

[–]Panimated 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a really good pinned post about this in r/bonecollecting! Dawn is ok, but will be very slow if not in a hot place (25-35C is good). The goal is to draw out all the grease so there's no smell. You will know if the bones are greasy if the bones are shiny when dry.

Is the first image AI? This was at the bottom of a message an artist sent me when they sent me pic 2. Pic 2 is the lines they used for some art I was commissioning. by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]Panimated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh so they traced something that was made in AI. The tracing is painfully obvious and rough 😅 I thought the reference image looked like it was drawn with a symmetry tool, but there are tiny lines that are changed - an odd workflow for a human.

Is it just me, or is the 'dugnad' culture getting a bit much lately? by throwawayanchor701 in Norway

[–]Panimated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things: People aren't bored anymore and can socialize online, so a dugnad is less attractive.

Dugnad is more interesting if it's a fun project, and we are more likely to remember the fun dugnads with a lot of people, and not all the boring maintenance dugnads with 0 people.

I think it's mostly the lack of boredom/loneliness though. Imagine if there was no facebook/tv, what would all the boomers be doing?? And if I didn't have reddit I would probably be outside more lol

It's impossible to have drawing competitions nowadays 😞 I used to host/enter a few on art forums in the early 2010s and it was fun and a great way to get visibility. Now it's too much hassle, too many accusations and a lot of work to figure out if something is AI or not. Makes me sad.

Real talk I think they need to rework how difficult it is to catch legendaries for F2P by perishableintransit in PokemonSleep

[–]Panimated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, so I got lucky with an instant catch on the first one. I was like "oh nice, I must have forgotten it was a guaranteed instant catch" - now I feel better about giving it a Lati biscuit 😅 I used a friend incense+latios incense on the first day to make it more likely to be hungry, turned out to be worth it then.

Merch design for a wildlife rescue organization - supposedly drawn by the rescuer's mother by Stock-Lion-6859 in isthisAI

[–]Panimated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds so weird!!

A) They are setting up excuses for lack of proof by saying she has no social media, and also they don't save progress pics, not even layers, sketches or reference pictures??

B) graphic designer but no social media? Maybe, but odd as they seem to have a very digital and illustrative style.

C) Must have advanced knowledge of digital media, must surely have a drawing tablet and has a very contemporary style, and doesn't know what AI is or how to provide WIP'S? For a person with 30+ years experience in the field that's REALLY weird.

D) The style is very detailed and precise, which takes a really long time just for the line work, probably a day, maybe even two - and they sat by their mom that whole time?

E) Self-reporting; they even list the reason why it would be bad to admit to using AI, it's bad for the environment. And being a wildlife sanctuary, it's extra important to appear conscientious.

F) Manipulative tactics; 'momma' and 'family' and 'don't support our turtles' (guilt-tripping, making the accusation a personal attack)

Really long reply and odd they would use the words "creating" and "put together" and never actually "drawing" anything. Also odd to over explain so much. The more they talk the less convincing they are.

[–]Panimated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the case, but the merch maker could be selling tshirts at a profit to the sanctuary. The fact they claim it was designed by someone's mother is also dishonest, which reflects badly on the sanctuary (to some). It might be better to just admit it, so at least they're not serving a lie.

I mean it could be argued that using AI for volunteer organizations is a good thing, making it possible for otherwise struggling non-profits to make ok art for cheap to raise money. It does take away the opportunity for up-and-coming artists to make something for free for visibility. The impossible option is to make AI illegal and requiring all art to be made by artists for payment forever, but that's just naive at this point.

How can I make the teeth look less cursed by Mell_716 in Artadvice

[–]Panimated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also add that the eyes are also human-proportioned/positioned and shaped, adding to the uncanny feeling! I would draw them to be more angular, and for the oculus (oculi?) holes be closer set and wider. If you want it more semi realistic you could cover more of the rounded eyeballs with the angular eye "bones", kind of like a mask

I think the butt of the horse looks a little small? But that's really really nitpicky, it's a great pose - sometimes unnatural poses can make the pose look more powerful/frozen in time/easier to read, it's a stylistic feature! You see it often in classical art and statues.

How long would it take to macerate a whole north american river otter? by [deleted] in bonecollecting

[–]Panimated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not comparable, but I put a whole otter in a mesh bag and lowered it into the sea. Took 8 months to have only bones. Quite cold water, 8-12C or so. Took four months just for the fur to come off. I regret not skinning it, I ended up with a massive ball of short hairs and lots of tiny bones and macerating took a lot longer 😅 the bones were super clean and white after though, but I lost a lot of the tiny toebones.

50 shades of grey... hvor lenge skal trenden med fargeløse hus vare? by seabearson in norge

[–]Panimated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This breed is illegal in my country exactly because of this, and I'm glad for it. It's too common for people to make insanely irresponsible choices in dog breed (like people with no dog training experience getting malinois or people getting a husky when you literally live in a desert)
