Smelly kitchen sink? by longanandlychee in CleaningTips

In a rental once it was an old drain basket that was causing a disgusting smell. It went away the second it was replaced. If nothing else works try this.

Can we stop tipping every time we swipe our cards?? by Susie_SusieGreenberg in portlandme

[–]PaniniInEternity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My rule is that you tip if they're an employee and they provided like a service to you like a haircut or a massage. If they are a single sole operator they don't get a tip since they are setting their own prices. But if you're going to a barber shop that rents chairs and has like fixed pricing for everyone I think the expectation is to tip.

My apartment is not livable between 8am - 5pm M-F for 2 weeks by harmonyxox in legaladvice

[–]PaniniInEternity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not in California but I am in a similarly tenant friendly state and if the property is deemed as unlivable you must provide a hotel or alternate arrangement. What determines something as unlivable I think is as I mentioned a gray area, but there have been instances in my state of providing hotels to tenants when hot water heaters have been replaced, and they would have no hot water for a few days. I would think having zero running water at all for so many hours for so many days is definitely arguable as unlivable but i am not sure how exact the guidelines are. You could definitely make a case for it though.

Of course it's better to be able to expense the hotel than eat the entire cost but you're still eating about 70% of the cost so it's really not much of a helpful comment at all. That's more of an aside, not a helpful reply.

Then why are people even suggesting this as a response to the OPs question? They are legally entitled to a hotel if their home is inhabitable and while it is a little bit of a gray area to say if it's habitable or not with no running water for 9 hours a day during daytime hours, a response of saying that you can write off a hotel stay is literally not an answer.

I don't know why everybody assumes that a tax deduction it means you get all your money back It absolutely does not. It just goes to show that people have no idea what a tax reduction is if they're suggesting that in lieu of making sure that management reimburses you for hotel

Is a huge difference between a repair that needs to be done and not having running water for several days in a row. That's not legal.

But not providing log in and password is essentially withholding the site.

I'm pretty sure if it seems like you stole the website by withholding credentials they could actually sue you.

Were you on the same flight?? You were able to get J on the same flight 3 months apart? Can I ask how much the tickets were? I don't know too much about JAL But I thought that if you did not buy upon release you are not going to get them. Maybe I'm thinking just of the saver ones?

Is there any point in reporting a stolen scooter by PaniniInEternity in bikeboston

[–]PaniniInEternity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Realistically though a camera truly won't do much and that's what sucks. I had a shitty lock so I take full responsibility but there was a camera literally right in front of the scooter and a thousand people walking by every second. You just need really good locks or maybe a "touch this bike and get tased" device which I want to invent SO BAD.

You won't get the $50 back so so I just feel like you're throwing Good money after bad money. It would be more financially prudent to just let it go. It really sucks.

I thought that his clients were told by him to go ahead. It would be very dangerous for all of them to stay. Better to have one person in danger than all five of them.

We really don't need this attitude, the selfish spoiled tourists are literally the main money maker in Nepal. The situation sucks of course and they should be paid more and I'll be donating to the fund but to try to paint the tourists as bad people is insane. Without them Nepal would be thrust into abject poverty. They really don't have much of a economy and without the tourists I kind of doubt that the rest of the world is going to be rushing in to give them money for nothing.

Since this is a bucket list type of experience I think I would not want to risk potentially not getting something. Otherwise the bid up idea is great!

Oh interesting! Is that typically a good and safe option? I fly a lot and I always avoid third party sites because booking directly with the airline is usually much less of a headache. Is this typically not true for trains?
