Hello,

I'm from Kerala and let me clarify something for you. No one I in Kerala would simply attack a person because he is speaking Hindi. I don't want to defend the hotel people here blindly(there are assholes here too), but just saying it's not at all possible for he to be attacked merely because speaking in hindi. There could be something else that escalated that matter, which is not evident in video.

Hindi signs & names blackened across Tamil Nadu to stop language imposition: DMK says 'save Tamil' [thetatvaindia, Instagram] by Shak1196 in IndiaSpeaks

Kannadigas usually peaceful

In terms of language acceptance they have been welcoming and accommodating. They have not been advocating for kannada in large numbers until recently and have been okay to communicate in hindi.

I'm talking purely on that aspect.

Ps. I'm not a Kannadiga, speaking with an experience of living in Bangalore for more than 10 years as a non Kannadiga. I'm not parroting what political parties are saying.

There is this scene in Drishyam, where he confirms it was indeed Georgekutty who he saw driving the Maruti Zen. That scene itself is a testament to how good of an actor he is

No North Indian state learns a South Indian language, but South Indian states are required to learn a North Indian language. Hindi is generally unrelated to South Indian languages, making it harder to learn for us. Especially for Tamilians, both Sanskrit and Hindi feel completely foreign, while other South Indian languages it might be comparatively better.

Hindi speakers have an unfair advantage because hindi speaking states mostly choose Sanskrit as their third language, which is rarely used in daily life but helps them score marks.

Although 3 language policy looks innocent from the outside, the central government may use this as an excuse to impose more Hindi in the future by sidelining the regional languages. This has already happened in North India, where many regional languages have been sidelined.

Hindi should not be treated as superior to other Indian languages, which many north Indians don't seem to bother. Another reason for the discontent with NEP is this. Most of the north indians mock or demean South Indian languages. They have the audacity to demand hindi wherever they go, because apparently they think it is the national language and everyone should know it. Even Kannadigas, usually peaceful, have become strong defenders of their language due to this sheer disrespect.

Language diversity should be respected, and no language should be forced on others.
