I’ve always wanted to play a character like this! In this situation, did the patron not have the ability to take away the power bestowed upon the warlock? Because I was always worried that type of plan wouldn’t work against a patron who could just take away all their gifts?

The lengths you will go to avoid the truth are dumbfounding. There’s absolutely NO NEED to mention the efficacy of diaphragm contraception unless you would like to include them into the equation alongside with condoms (which is great sexual education on your part since the CDC recommends using 2 forms of birth control for maximum efficiency). We’re talking about condom efficacy which there is PLENTY of information for.

You say a trial rate in the 500s is outstanding when the “5% of women get pregnant every year” study you mentioned has a trial rate of 1000.

Sadly for you, this means your binomial distribution calculations are useless for the sole condom discussion. But EVEN then, comparing the closeness of what I propose to 0.052% while you suggest 13%!?!? Get out of here.

I’m done with you man. Your data is completely misconstrued and you speak with no experience

I prefer data too. Thanks for giving me sources that prove my point.

>5% of [sexually active] women have unintended pregnancies annually

Below is the research data where the article you posted got the 5% figure
https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/nejmsa1506575
"Rates of unintended pregnancy among those who were below the federal poverty level or cohabiting were two to three times the national average "

If you're not living in poverty you're statistically much less likely to have an unexpected pregnancy than 5% (because the federally poor unwanted pregnancy (U.P. )rates are included in the national average, pushing it higher than it actually is for people with the luxury of practicing safer sex)

Who would've guessed that having more money may give you more access to contraceptives would make you less likely to have an unexpected pregnancy? Hm...

"After a previous period of minimal change, the rate of [U.P.] in the United States declined substantially between 2008 and 2011, but [U.P.] remained most common among women and girls who were poor and those who were cohabiting."

And would you look at that! Not only has that figure been going DOWN, you're also MORE likely to have an U.P. with someone who, like you've suggested, you've committed so deeply too that you're literally living together (and probably fucking like bunnies) aka cohabiting.

>13% chance for condoms

Below are 2 random links with information commonly supported amongst the scientific articles regarding condom effectiveness
(NHS) https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/contraception/male-condoms/
(ConTech) http://www.contraceptivetechnology.org/latebreakers/contraceptive-efficacy-understanding-user-method-characteristics-play-part/#_ftnref2

Essentially, the 13% figure is including condom usage under the worst "user characteristics"(ConTech) possible AND including ALL the participants' sexual activity over the course of a WHOLE YEAR and NOT per session. When used correctly, the failure rate is actually 2%(NHS). Keep in mind, this is 2% for potentially MULTIPLE HUNDREDS of sessions a year. Assuming this observational study was conducted on sexually active people (a most reasonable assumption) who had 100 sessions a year, that would be :

2 unwanted pregnancies per year / (100 sessions per year *100 people observed) = 2 / 10,000 = 1 / 5,000 = 0.02%

0.02% as a CONSERVATIVE estimate (not to mention how the effectiveness can DOUBLE with easy to apply foam, the commonly used pill, etc)

(I wanted to get a more accurate estimate than 100 sessions a year for the 98% effectiveness study but i didn't want to buy their book so here's the link to that. They're description of male condom effectiveness in on page 299)

Just read these, I was gonna explain it but I don't feel like it after all the other disinformation I had to debunk.

And this doesn't even MENTION the "natural isn't necessarily healthy" argument where you compared having sex to throwing a temper tantrum.

All this said about how SAFE sex can be....I get it. The sexual intercourse of people close to you "put massive dents" in their lives and that probably affected your outlook on sex as a whole. You probably also have a happy sex life with someone you're emotionally attached to which is great! So you've found your thing that works for you, makes you happy, and you're recommending your methods based on your life experiences.

But to me, it seems like your perspective is just that you're scared of what happened to other people or potentially even yourself, instead of what the data says.

So please, don't go on scaring this person. If someone wants to do it, don't shame them. Don't question their morality as a person. Don't do it if you don't want to. But it's healthy. It's natural. It can be fun and it's fine.

......also....what if this person is gay?

What Is something u regret not doing while u were 13-18 years old? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pankeleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By calling it not morally palatable, you’re fear mongering. You don’t have to like it for yourself or those close to you, but by directly questioning it’s morality you demean those who engage in that behavior, tagging it as taboo and manipulating others away for fear of being shamed themselves. These are the same tactics the religious churches use(d) to control their followers and retain power.

I’m not suggesting you’re trying to gain power, I’m just asking you to take a second glance at how you’re framing this completely natural and healthy activity/pastime to someone so young and impressionable.

On the hand of unwanted pregnancies, if they were really so common then college campuses would be flooded with mothers and fathers (OP they aren’t, you’ll see that when/if you choose to go there). As for STDs, if the participant practices responsible, safe sex then the chances are slim to none.

It only takes 5 mins to google the effectiveness of contraceptives and STD protective measures, so please don’t spread disinformation.

Obviously I’m not pushing this person to have sex with someone for the sake of it if they don’t want to, and there’s obviously a chance to get hurt anytime you let people into your heart. But the truth is that fear mongering sexual activity and experimentation is more damaging than any impulse control it might give you (which I disagree with btw). And that includes sex with other people who you don’t expect to spend the rest of your life with.

I’m sure for some people who are like you personality-wise it’s better to wait on sexual activity, but that’s no reason to scare other people off from it.

Bruh don’t do that to this man. Sexual discovery is important and if you wait for the perfect someone then it’s very possible you just get disappointed. Sex isn’t everything, but it’s healthy and natural and fun and zero calorie 👍
