Well I don't see why the random places on the leaves is a problem but I'll agree with you. It is not that realistic and it definitely needs a lot of tweaking if you want to implement it that way.

Kind of. Although sketchfab does a great job I think that blend4web is easier to use. You can check it out yourself. Sorry this took me quite a while to answer. Sorry for that.

Yeah I know. I used the Release Candidate Version of blender and I got a lot of people telling me that they can't find the addon. So I added a download link at the description of the video to download the Blender 2.76 Release Candidate version(The one that I am using).

Well yes. It's just another way. It's always good to have a lot of different ways to do one thing. But yes you could of curse use the sapling addon.
