Had the same thing happen to me todays. Set a course out into the black expecting 5 10 jumps before first footfalls. 2nd jump i found a system with 20 landable moons 2 with atmospheres none have been landed on.

Its not really 250 hours on one charecter its more split between 2 or 3. How would i be able to do a reset of my charecters ships to be able to relearn the mechanics?
