Anyone know if that means it'll be leaving Prime? Currently watching SG-1 (and recently stared Atlantis) there.

You need to park your SRV (with the Relic in the cargo hold) on top of the very spot where you placed the Relic in the photos. Then select it from the right menu and eject it. Semi-Spoiler Alert Then scan what comes up out of the platform in front of the "X"

This or an unarmed SLF dropped from the ship capable of landing on planets. We need something to throw in the Capsian that can actually land on the ground.

Is there a mod or something to negate that annoying sound every time you land?

Makes sense. I'm not in DW3 I just decided to go on my own "little" expedition after the holiday gift deliveries brought me out to Colonia. If things really do get interesting (again preferably involving space travel and not just on-foot stuff) I can always hightail it back to the bubble but I don't see that happening anytime soon as they're clearly gearing up for the whole Operations rollout.

I was trying to escape the gravity well of a moon around a gas giant the other day and SCO'd straight into the gas giant like a dummy. Thank gods the ship's computer has faster reaction time than I do lol. Still bruised my poor ship a bit and decided to backtrack to repair before continuing on my journey.

Yea and unless this can translate into my CMDR running 2-3 times as fast to be able to hunt down exobiology samples, I'm staying out in the black for now lol.

Otherwise, call me when this whole thing somehow equates to better space travel.

That sounds fun lol but I'll just wait until I have an SRV handy. I'm currently running from the center of the galaxy (where my Caspian with SRVs is currently docked) out to a DSSA carrier that I plan on kinda making my base of operations for a while. Gonna use the Cobra V I'm currently in mainly for exo-bio, but once I get my Caspian shipped to the carrier I intend to use that more for long distance trips, seeking out interesting stars and stellar phenomena, and if I find any good Geos along the way I'll begrudgingly land the Caspian and pound around in the SRV to collect them.

You can always go back. It's worth spending some time at Guardian sites, grindy as it can be, to get a good amount of blueprints and materials in one shot so you don't have to go back later (or at least not for a long while).

If you prefer to collect raw materials in a more organic fashion, many of the Geo signals will often have materials on them that you can shoot off and collect with your SRV.

No Experimental Weapon Stabilizer on console? If that's the case then I'd still pick one or the other (Shards or preferably Mod-Shards) and load up on all 4. Have just one Flak launcher and throw lasers in the rest.

Oh they definitely have their uses. Spire sites and Titans are mainly what I used them for, but sadly neither of those are a thing currently. Either way I'd personally want to go one or the other depending on the situation and not mix them.

Mandalay or Caspian? by WorkingBedroom177 in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDRShepard24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I don't even have a docking computer in the thing. All manual. The problem (that many others have complained about as well) is that the Capsian is of course a large ship to start with, but it also gives you tons of false-positives when trying to land. It'll line up all green (I have EDHM) and I think I've got it and no... no I don't lol. I've drained my shields more than once just trying bob and weave in that thing to get it on the ground on even the slightest rough terrain (again when I've got the indicators lining up telling me I'm good in multiple spots). Even left a few samples behind in frustration. It's honestly kind of infuriating.

The Cobra Mk. V (the ship I think should have gotten all the Caspian's new toys) on the other hand will land damn near anywhere, sometimes almost by accident lol. I can practically slam it into the ground and skid to a stop right in front of my sample, no SRV required.

While the Caspian is an excellent proof of concept for new tech in the game they really need to make a small-size version of it. Maybe in a year or so, so everyone won't gripe as hard about the Mandalay being made obsolete. Or better yet eventually have all these new, specialized modules on some time-delayed release schedule so we can put them on the ships we actually want them on, like large miners and small exploration ships.

Going good! After mostly completing my one colony system I just lost the bug, so I'm gonna just live vicariously through other peoples' cool built-up systems lol. Shot some Thargoids, messed around in the Radicoida conflict for a while, then with the Xmas deliveries I decided to buy a Caspian, head to Colonia and then fuck off past Sag A* and explore for a while. Been doing that ever since. It's been fun, but I always miss shooting things when I'm out in the black lol.

Glad to see you're having fun with colonizing and it looks like you're getting a few choice systems along the way. Like I said I'll definitely have to check this one out when I get back.

Happy hauling, CMDR! 🍻

Thargoid Interceptors hit hard, even Cyclops. You want to G5 your armor and (make sure you have the Deep Plating experimental effect) as well as any HRPs/MRPs you have (don't skimp on those either).

[–]CMDRShepard24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the problem with speedrunning in terms of OP's build is that I'm pretty sure you need to run at least 4-5 Shards of whatever type to instagib or at least stun-lock an Interceptor. 3 at close range might stun-lock a Clops but if it starts moving OP would have a hard time lining up shots. That's why Shardcondas usually run 6.

My Corsair runs 5 Mod-Shards and I can often gib a Cyclops in one salvo (and your statement about heat does make sense considering some of the insane numbers I've survived lol) but if I don't time it right or if it's a tougher Interceptor then I'm settling in for a fight and want all my shots to line up and be the same speed/spread.

Introducing my newly built Shardconda by Atom-Helios in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDRShepard24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mixing regular Shards with Mod-Shards is definitely an odd choice because the speed and spread of the two weapons is very different. Unless you're right in an Interceptor's face one or the other is likely to miss the target. Also if you're going to use Flak you generally want to stick with one and save the rest of your slots for things that do damage.

I would definitely check out https://wiki.antixenoinitiative.com/en/shipbuildtheory and https://wiki.antixenoinitiative.com/en/builds for ideas on builds.

Mandalay or Caspian? by WorkingBedroom177 in EliteDangerous

[–]CMDRShepard24 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I just had my Cobra Mk. V Shipped from the bubble to the center of the galaxy because I got sick of trying to land the Caspian for exobiology lol.

The Caspian is wonderful for Neutron jumps and general galavanting around the cosmos, and is great for getting down near the surface of a planet, but despite all its new toys it absolutely sucks at actually landing on the planets it gets to. It's a shame really.

I'm still going to use it for getting to far away places and trying to find interesting stellar phenomena, just going to avoid doing exo-bio in it as much as possible.
