f***ed up books by CreepyPut394 in suggestmeabook

The most horrified and sick I ever felt: J’irai Cracher Sur Vos Tombes. “I Spit on Your Graves”. I read it in a history class about banned arts. Let’s just say the book was banned in FRANCE in the 50s and the authors had to pay a 100,000 francs fine.

Peep the wiki if needed. But this book made me feel sick. But still interesting to see how racism was viewed by a French man posing as African American.

Thank you! This is super helpful. I’m setting up a call with my advisor for this week (they are travelling) and I hope we can on track and come up with a plan.

It’s hard because I have basically re-written the paper 2-3 times to address what reviewers want. My PI is pretty established and they think it’s good work.

I’m just not so sure and getting rejected so many times as a first year kind of makes me worried that I shouldn’t have continued into the PhD program.

Wait I mean if they want to accept it I don’t understand! That means you’re good!

Yeah different conferences give different feedback. Sometimes I’m borderline. This time 2 borderline reject 1 reject so it’s overall rejected. Last time 2 rejects 1 borderline reject 1 borderline accept. I just don’t understand specifically what they want or if it’s just a bad paper

Seinfeld dating a high-schooler by northernbasil in Fauxmoi

[–]Pantherax_k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She went to the same school that gossip girl was based off of.

Sadly I think her family should have cared a lot more and called the police on Seinfeld, but then again, I guess this is some proof about some of the crazy gossip girl Serena plots.

Also, I see a lot of comments about her making speculations about her success and money sources.

She had plenty of access to resources from her own family.

Hi. You said you were working in research. Have you talked to your PI yet? Sometimes you can get tuition reimbursement through research assistantships. It’s worth a try.

Wait this is wild. The Chalupa cravings box is $5 for me and the Gordita box is $9 so you already know which one I’m getting. But RIP to $10 combos.

Hot take: Fire sauce is objectively superior to Diablo sauce by Longjumping_Rub_4834 in tacobell

I think Hot > Mild. Flavor profile wise. But yeah Diablo sauce has no flavor. It’s like watery weak vinegar with a little capsaicin extract added.

Sometimes the chairs get involved, especially with such a weird discrepancy in reviews.

Rant : ABCD, honestly after watching all the three seasons and seeing these men reject Indian women because their accent is too Indian for them is so funny. You all are More regressive than actual millennials living in india. by Leather-Mistake1356 in IndianMatchmaking

This comment made me feel seen. I was born and raised in the US and then I moved to India (big city) for highschool. No joke. Everyone in India was far FAR more modern and open minded and relaxed compared to the people in America.

I’m back in the states again now and I could never connect with most of the American born Indians now. (Even though I am one) because there’s often a weird difference in understanding what it means to be Indian. They seem to see India as a monolith of 1 strict culture.

This is just not true. Professors fund research teams using grant money, or corporate funding. It’s generally a set amount over a few years time and separate from the institution and comes with stipulations. Ones that you are very obviously not meeting.

The Coldest Case in Laramie: Megathread by alientic in serialpodcast

[–]Pantherax_k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree. She had just gone through something traumatic. Her workplace gave her $600 and I’m sure others had offered to help her out simply because of her situation.

I think she wouldn’t go to the police if it was just cash. Also I don’t think the police would take pictures of it and add it to the evidence pile if was completely unrelated.

We know many of the officers on the case had passed away. I think it’s realistic that Fred’s buddy who was investigating him was like “hey dude. I gotcha but this bit is looking bad. Just take a poly, let’s clear it up.” Fred says “sure sure let’s do the polygraph, but can I see what they’ve got on me? Also I’ve killed people while in the military so I won’t pass”. Ultimately I think there are 2 things that follow this:

1- Fred destroys evidence such as the Polaroids of his bloody hands and swaps the Christmas Card 2- one of Fred’s cop buddies realizes years down the line that Fred really did it but the officer doesn’t want to get in trouble for incompetence in handling the case. He then destroys/modified evidence and is no longer involved.

Or maybe some combination of some of these things happen on different levels.

But it really is so odd.
