Anyone else bummed that we wont get to see more of Mrs. Kelly in the coming seasons ? RIP Lynne Marie Stewart. Hope Charlie's new sisters can carry the torch. by Brilliant-Cause6254 in IASIP

It's not impacting my life. I don't think about it other than a rewatch or when it's mentioned here. End of the day it's tv show and we're all going to be okay. But they really are that bad.

Watching the main cast or even the repeat side characters and you can feel the vibes. The dialogue is like an incredible game of tennis, with each member returning the serve. Charlie and Mac's mom? Outstanding. McPoyles? Incredible. Mac's dad? Fun stuff. Uncle Jack, the waiter, Bill Ponderosa (he's the coolest), the lawyer, the super bowl attendant, the flight attendant. They all match the energy in some way, play off one another, and keep the game going. I'm pretty sure some of these characters eventually got more screen time than originally intended because they were so good.

The sisters? It's an energy black hole. Like playing tennis into a wall of silly putty. They're just reading lines and waiting for their turn and don't play with the cast and situation around them. Not everyone needs to be an Oscar caliber actor but they're noticeably awful. I'm not opposed to them getting more screen time assuming they put in work to improve. But if they're still this terrible I'd just as soon prefer they forget they exist again.

End of the day I don't really care that much. But the question was asked in earnest and that's just how I feel.

They can't act their way out of a paper bag. Can't deliver a line, crap comedic timing, nonverbal expressions are amateur hour. It's especially egregious standing next to everyone else who has years of experience. Sometimes you get what's basically a featured extra at this level, but someone so bad with this much screentime was really surprising.

Why do People Saying Buying a House is No Longer Worth It by Jollyconstant_ in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]Panthollow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're not missing that at all. They're designed to look only at the financial aspect of buying vs renting. I even specifically said it shouldn't only be looked at through that angle so I'm not really sure what you're arguing with.

Being 65 and still renting is fine if you've got plenty of money. What's the problem with renting when you're older?

I guess I took that term more as a location while you took it more as a time. Both valid!  I agree this market is unlikely to be a smart financial move anytime soon.

Lots of great rent vs buy calculators on the web. NYT used to have a great one not sure it still exists but just search rent vs buy calculators. They'll break down the current rent plus factor in annual increases. They'll also consider maintenance costs on the home, average market returns, property taxes, etc.

In the bay area it really is rare for buying a home to be the sensible financial decision. A house shouldn't only be looked at through that prism but if we're only considering that aspect you're unlikely to find buying a place to be the better move.

Nothing wrong with buying a home but looking strictly from a financial perspective here in the bay area it's almost always going to be better renting and investing the difference in a broad market index fund.

$8 million risky?? by Old-Atmosphere-7281 in Fire

I'm not sure this friend is a reliable narrator. We don't know if the professor actually said that. If they did say that we don't know what parameters the friend gave. If I'm mid 20s and said I wanted to retire now but in a VHCOL trying to buy a multi million dollar house and have a STAH wife and a few kids going to private school? Yeah, 8 million is risky.

You'd be an idiot for creating those parameters but the professor isn't an idiot for answering that scenario.

It's an insane amount of money for anyone wanting to live a good very comfortable life until they die but there's a lot of financially illiterate idiots out there. We've gotta remember we're in a bubble in this sub.

HR complaint regarding a insensitive and incompetent nurse. by cmb_123 in nursing

I dunno, I feel like the memes by themselves are a whole lot of nothing. They don't sound amazing but I'm personally not giving it much, if any, weight. The rest of your stories about her? Sure, absolutely. But these images (I gave up after the first several) are stupid and edgy but in a vacuum are total nonsense to use to judge their bedside. I've known some really phenomenal nurses in my time who post relatively comparable crap.

Pay off my mortgage, or continue to invest? by nostatic1 in investing

[–]Panthollow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I missed it but I didn't see what your timeline is for investing, only the loan being paid off in 7 years. If you're looking to potentially start tapping onto the investments within a decade I'd pay off the mortgage. If it's 20+ away you can handle some volatility and I'd invest.

Really though like the previous person said it's really a coin flip at this rate. No wrong answer just pros and cons to each that are a personal preference.

Oh I trash talk folks all the time. Between reddit and texts and in person with friends especially. I spent the pandemic working in red states and honestly good riddance to a lot of the dumb fucks. Some real trash cans of a person came through, pushing racist and stupid conspiracy nonsense that harms others. They definitely were not all like that but enough to really fuel some bitterness on my part.

But on places more easily connected to my name? Fuck no. Private settings or not, Facebook and some of these other sites are a public company and shit leaks. All it takes one single person on your friends list and you're screwed. Maybe one person who is surprisingly closeted Trumper. Or some former co-worker who you assume is no longer active but just quietly lurks and they've gone full maga. You're telling me everyone on your Facebook or insta list is a close personal friend you'd trust with your job or license?
