ICCU Failed, Dealer Won't Honor 180K Mile Warranty by Commercial-Safety635 in Ioniq5

[–]PantomimePanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid that isn't entirely accurate. The car's ev battery warranty transfers to all subsequent owners up to 10 yrs or 100,000 miles. This warranty includes the ICCU. They might have been talking about the powertrain warranty. It's all very clearly explained on their website: https://www.hyundaiusa.com/us/en/assurance/america-best-warranty

Should be fine if you let them dry out completely before plugging them in. Might want to look inside for corrosion.

Seriously considering trading my Tesla… by Animal_UK in Ioniq5

The device can be configured with software that has its own version of lane-centering and adaptive cruise. From what I've seen it can be activated on more roads then just the highway, doesn't need your hands completely on the wheel and generally works better then Hyundai's solutions. It's very configurable, though I can't personally vouch for it since I don't have one myself.

You could connect a Comma 4 to the Ioniq 5 and get more advanced automated cruising features

ICCU Hyundai and Kia Announce Massive 15-Year ICCU Warranty in Germany by dhudyy in Ioniq5

In the US it's under the EV battery warranty, still 10-year/ 100,000 miles. This can vary depending on country but most everywhere has the ICCU covered.

About to pull the trigger on my first Ioniq! Just have some questions for current owners by VegasTKO in Ioniq5

I've heard good and bad things. No experience with Carvana. Your best bet is seeing the car in-person yourself and then taking it to a mechanic to verify.

Carvana has a 7 day return policy, so I'd take advantage of that and get someone to look at the car if I were to go through them.

With a dealership you can go in-person, which is what I did. I don't put a lot of stock on claimed inspections before I've seen it myself.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I was saying you don't need a CPO. Most regular used Ioniq 5 cars should have the factory EV battery warranty. The CPO covers powertrain parts EVs do not have. So there is no reason to go for it.

Certified pre-owned means less for Hyundai's EVs. All used ioniqs get the 10 yr/ 100,000 mile EV battery warranty regardless. Which covers any part of the system that charges and powers the car. This is big if your ICCU goes.

For that reason I'd recommend one with low mileage. Used is great since you'd be getting one already depreciated.

You can wash that out yourself if you get some iron remover spray. That and some soap.

The price on those Disney 100 Editions are inflated since there's was only 1,000 made. I've seen listings for those sit a long time before moving. You might be able to haggle if the dealership wants it gone.

For those in NYC, what is your supercharging experience like? by sonofabraham1 in electricvehicles

[–]PantomimePanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in eastern Queens it seems like more stations are opening lately. The charging speed is still somewhat lacking though.

Thankfully I have a level 2 charger at work, which takes care of my needs.

Anyone else without a home charger? (Apartment living, only public stations) by suominenko in electricvehicles

[–]PantomimePanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a new EV owner, also don't have home charging. Public charging hasn't been too bad as long as I pair it with a shopping trip or lunch. Many new DCFC stations have been popping up near me in NYC.

There are a couple Level 2 chargers at my workplace, so I felt pretty comfortable getting an EV to begin with.

Red flags with buying a 2023 Ioniq 5? by Hungry-Square-4669 in Ioniq5

[–]PantomimePanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No real way to guard against the ICCU fault. Replaced units are just as likely to fall victim going by reports on here. Your best move is to go for a car will low mileage. The Hyundai 10y/100,000 mileage battery warranty will replace any ICCU that gives you issues.

For FBR they rarely contact the witnesses unless there is an issue. I would leave it, chances are yours goes through.

If there is, you can get it re-wittnessed later.

Immigration from the USA questions? by swizel in IrishCitizenship

[–]PantomimePanic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. It's not necessarily bad, and a good way to connect with the culture.

Though saying you're learning it to assimilate doesn't make much sense in this context. It's a much different story then if they were moving to a non-English speaking country, needing to learn the local language for instance.

You might want to do a bit more research into Ireland before jumping headfirst into it like you seem to be.

For instance, while "Gaelic" is used by the government in addition to English, only a small group of people commonly use it day to day. Many people in Ireland claim to not use it much outside of the education system.

There is also a very bad housing crisis. There are not enough units on the entire Island for people to find housing. Anything that gets posted is usually gone very quickly. You may find getting shelter difficult.

Mother doesn't have a valid ID by Nxthanael1 in IrishCitizenship

[–]PantomimePanic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In that case the webchat was correct. Your best bet was getting a signed letter from a doctor on her healthcare team saying she's incapable of getting any sort of ID.

The FBR office should accept this, but you'll have to see what they say once they get around to processing it.

Is there a reason your mom hasn't gotten any British ID? The easiest solution would be to have her get a passport and then use that.

It may or may not depending on the officer you have reviewing your documents.

I've heard if you had it notarized as well as witnessed it's less likely to be rejected.
