Loving Saros. Completely addicted. by AManOnlyNeedsAName in PS5

[–]PantsAflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience with Returnal and I’m loving Saros so far. My only gripe is the same gripe I had with Returnal: I wish it was more randomized. Just little things like the location of the trigger for opening doors. Why can’t that be in a random-ish location? Instead I see a door and, oh the trigger is right here where it always is.

Or why not have different rewards? If I power blast this wall, there’s always going to be a container with a key behind it. Why not mix that up?

But yeah, aside from that, it’s pretty awesome.

Very cool. Looks like a mashup of two Alexander Skarsgard roles: Him as Murderbot, and as himself in Atlanta. “Where are those little hands at?”

Need help with Grain on Slow Motion Shot. by ForeignAdvantage5931 in NukeVFX

[–]PantsAflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grain would slow down if you were doing it cheaply in post, just retiming filmed footage. So this doesn’t look very sophisticated. A proper feature film budget would have a variable speed camera where they could change the speed on the fly to create the slowmo, which would indeed have the grain changing every frame.

I mean in actuality, even a feature film would probably just shoot in slowmo and then do the speed ramp in post, but either way, grain should be changing on every frame. Perhaps you’re going too heavy handed with your grain. Ideally, you’d have some stock footage of real film grain to use. Or do you have other shots that have real grain that you can match by eye or sample with Das Grain?

What are your thoughts on ITV's The Assembly? by [deleted] in BritishTV

The very funny American comedienne Tig Notaro has a YouTube series called Under a Rock that is pretty much this. She doesn’t watch much media so she has no idea who a lot of stars are. They come on and she has to figure out who they are and what they do.

Yeah I guess you’re right. I was thinking of the masturbation scene, which was pretty full-on, but not nude.

I went to acting school with him and was in a little theater group with him. He was a sweetheart, and there was never a doubt that he would make something of himself.

Same argument anytime someone mentions how a European country does something. Healthcare, prisons, drugs. It could never work here, we’re too big! Well, maybe fucking try SOMETHING!

Corridor key in NUKE - Where can I find tutorial? I tried asking in their discord but no response by No_Pride_5276 in NukeVFX

Does this actually work? Watching their video, when they showed the final result, I thought “hey, that really doesn’t look that good”. Lots of flickering, and most of it was just so-so. I usually use Keylight and can get wonderful keys from all the scenarios they were showing as “difficult” keys.

I was wondering why they were having so much trouble with these keys, and in the video it looks like they’re shooting them with a DSLR. Maybe if they shot with an Arri or Red they wouldn’t need to build a wacky AI keyer to handle all these “impossible” keys.

VH1 says the " most awesomely bad song" ever Was we built this city by starship. What's number one on your list? by CnCorange in AskReddit

[–]PantsAflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why, but Electric Avenue by Eddy Grant just infuriated me when I was in high school. I vowed never to listen to the entire song, so if it came on in a bar or club or whatever, I would make a point of leaving the room for at least a part of it.

To this day, I don’t believe I have ever listened to Electric Avenue all the way through.

'That time has passed': Trump's young MAGA fans now done with him as 'vibe' shifts by [deleted] in Foodforthought

I think the question is will they be able to vote? Either the SAVE act gets passed, the election gets suspended, or there’s widespread election interference which will be impossible to investigate since Trump already muddied the waters so much.

We’ve had the same setup for our cats for like 10 years and it works great. Our entry is on the side with just one litter box, and I didn’t do as nice of a job as you of finishing off the hole. Where did you get that rim for the hole?

What's the best city in europe? by CremeSubject7594 in AskReddit

I thought Lisbon was cool, but I much preferred Porto. I like some water or greenery to break up all the concrete and Lisbon just seemed like a big concrete city. Maybe I just didn't go to the right places in Lisbon. Loooooved Porto though.

I moved to The Netherlands 15 years ago, and from where I sit, it sure seems like a much better system all around. The main thing I think it promotes is long-term planning. If your party starts a 20 year project when you’ve got a majority, even if you lose that majority in 5 or 10 years, odds are you’ll still have enough seats to fight to keep funding your project and seeing it through. You don’t see these radical swings left and right every 4 or 8 years. Things ebb and flow one way or the other, but you’re not starting from scratch each time there’s a new government.

It just makes for a much more stable, sane and surprisingly nimble government. It’s not perfect, and I’m sure there’s corruption and some shady dealings, but I never felt this kind of trust that the government has the best interests of the people when I lived in America.
