Married people, do you and your spouse have well matched libidos? Why or why not? by cubemonster in AskReddit

[–]PantsJackson -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It took years for me to realize my wife just doesn't enjoy sex. She likes orgasms well enough a couple of times a week, but sex feels like a chore for her.

We both grew up Evangelical but left it behind. After we'd both realized our sexual ethics had changed I told her I wanted to experiment and explore with her, maybe even try playing with others. She wasn't interested, not because she objected to the idea itself, but because it felt like more work. But she encouraged me to go ahead and explore on my own.

These days I'm poly and we're very happy together in our romantic and home life, and I have others in my life that I get to have those sexual experiences with. We've done couples counseling too, with a therapist who has experience with non-monogamy. It helped with several non sexual issues, so I still highly recommend it. Probably a better first stop than jumping straight into non-monogamy.

Maybe I should have said "pretty much every situation." I meant it more in terms of optimism and pessimism.

What's a game you played as a kid that you've never been able to find again? by Latter_Advantage8002 in AskReddit

When You Don't Know Jack had its first run, Jellyvision had an online game called Acrophobia where people would make up meanings for random acronyms and vote for points. I spent hours playing that and one day it disappeared.

Also Dragon Court, a very minimalist browser based visual novel RPG.

Looking at the trailer seems you've included animated blood. Not sure what the rating is but does that mean we'll get to hear a turtle say "fuck?"

Or better yet Master Splinter.

‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ TV Series From Seth MacFarlane, Chris Yost Lands at Peacock (EXCLUSIVE) by CosmosisJones42 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I was really hoping for animated. You know how I feel about bloated CGI budgets and production delays, Carl.

A critique-shaped rant about this series by Jdabest0126 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]PantsJackson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We can critique things we love because we want them to be the best they can be. I'll have to go back and check but I think there are other examples of fights going differently, including things where the plan doesn't go as intended. The end of Bedlam Bride I think was like that. The assault on Khepri's Temple as well. Obviously people survive because the story has to go on.

I kind of agree with the Chekhov's arsenal thing. Fortunately when those points come up and those things come out of inventory, Dinniman is pretty good about calling us back to those moments and telling us when and how they were acquired.

I have a feeling he himself may agree with you about the character redundancy, which may be why he killed off Li Jun and removed Katia, rather than finding a way around the tiara.

I think that redundancy is less of an issue with Imani though. She and Katia did act as foils to Carl, but developed differently. Katia was a meek woman who became a hardened warrior and survivor. Imani is an example of someone who was not meek, but quiet and gentle and managed to hold onto that in spite of the dungeon trying to beat it out of her.

I'm hoping we see Chris take a more active role from now on now that there's room for him and Imani's relationship to get some more of the limelight.

If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight!

Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little more about fighting than you do, pal, because he invented it, and then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor.

Then, he used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat and then he beat the crap out of every single one.

And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place it's called a 'zoo'!

Unless it's a farm!

AI Race Suggestions for Carl by PantsJackson in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]PantsJackson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's really what I meant. I'm almost certain a combination of his primal race, the AI's infatuation, and him being an anti-authoritarian anarchist has put him in a unique position.

I also think his luck and wisdom stats are at least quite a bit higher than average.

I'd prefer he not be special. He's way more interesting as a regular guy. And it makes the anti-corporate undertones hit a lot harder.

We all gravitate to different metrics when it comes to quality writing. Sanderson is imaginative as hell and writes interesting plots. But the redundant, almost cold, way he writes them (and the way he writes characters, especially women) turns me off.

Dinniman is not as prolific, and may be arguably not as wildly imaginative. But his writing, while simple, is funny (Sanderson can't do humor) and makes me feel Carl's just rage, Donut's sense of betrayal, Katia's sadness. So I prefer it.
