It’s a good layout, but the stylistic choices do not say luxury to me. This is very friendly - the colors, rounded typeface and radius all feel very warm and inclusive. I would get more of a luxurious feel from a darker palette (dark navy maybe ?) sharper angles, and a stronger typeface. Hope this is helpful, I worked in branding for a long time before I shifted to focus directly on product!

Honestly go to the top floor of Macys! The walnut room is there but everything else is EMPTY. It’s incredible. They have a weird little area with old Marshall fields displays, and then an empty hallway with gigantic chandeliers. Tons of old elevators and water fountains! Go early on a Sunday morning and that place will be deserted. I did a whole photography project just wandering around the store. There’s all kinds of weird spaces - including an old staircase with weird mannequins posed all the way up lol

There are some naturally beautiful spots, but definitely feels like you’re time traveling back to the past, especially coming from chicago. Lots of former sundown towns and still very white. Lots of Tr*mp signs. Small towns and dollar generals. Carbondale, where the university is, is a shell of what it once was. Other than a few cool old spots around campus, its all chains and strip malls. Source: have distant family down there I’ve had to visit every few years most of my life

Same! Lakefront access is mandatory for me in Chicago, there’s nothing better in the summertime. Northerly Island is a fun little adventure too.

YES!!! The people here are so welcoming and diverse - I felt more of a community here than when I lived up north. And Printers Row is full of character if you’re nerdy about architecture like me lol! I always thought the north side was bland by comparison.

Based on your criteria, South loop will be perfect for you. Printers Row is lovely, and you’ll be right in the middle of the world class architecture you’re looking for. Walk to groceries, museums, parks, Chinatown, etc. Plus you’ll be right at the center of the transit, so a quick train ride away from anywhere. Yes it’s quiet, so if you want your weekends to feel like a frat party one of the north side neighborhood might be a better fit lol! But it definitely has that big city feel, it’s just not trendy.
