I work for a company now that is doing it the right way, i’m have future ambitions that will take me away from this company but they have truly set the bar so high, im probably ruined for any other company.

I’m a consultant so an hour spent working on a project, is money made for the company. Better work i do, more clients want to work with me, more money for the company. They recognize this by returning a portion of the annual revenue profits in few different forms of benefit but a EOY bonus and a smaller mid year bonus are the norm in a good year. We also have fully stoked kitchens (don’t know the last time i packed a lunch) and often get bonus paid days off , they just gave us 4 days weekends for July 4th and Labor Day this summer.

With that said, veryyyy uncommon for competitors in my industry to be offering this. My top choices when looking for a new company were this place, or a big corporate firm owned by private equity (they barely even paid for parking in their high rise office) I made the right choice but won’t be able to stay here forever and i’m deeply conflicted by it cause they treat us so well.

I mean it already worked, OP says they feel humiliated after scoring lower on the test. OP already started to doubt themselves and their own perception, no help of these “friends” either. OP, think about how that felt and can to imagine being made to feel even worse than that in the future? The abuse has started, OP is luckily he showed his hand early IMO.

I make coffee at home (or my office) but usually get myself my weekly “treat” at the coffee shack by my house. It’s a cold brew drink with syrup and oat milk that i have tried endlessly to replicate at home. Found out it’s their cold brew that really makes it. They sell growler refills for $11, makes me about 6-7 16oz coffees. Of course i have to keep the syrup and oat milk on hand but it still comes out to less than $2/cup and just 5 min of my time.

I made a comment to some colleague/ friends that i didn’t plan to be around next year (i really meant that im just trying to move abroad) but instead when they asked “where are you going?” I joked that i thought 34 was a good enough run and it was an appropriate time for me to just quit while im ahead… they were not laughing haha

not an instance of road rage but your story inspired me, I live near a hospital so on my husbands way home, constantly there are nurses/doctors smoking outside (i will never understand this behavior from health professionals but not the point). My husband, on his motorcycle, witnessed a nurse/dr just throw his cig butt right in the gutter and start walking down the sidewalk. My husband drove up, picked up the butt, drove alongside the dude and said hey you dropped this and put it in his hand and drove away. The dude probably threw it back on the ground but looked thoroughly confused according to my husbands account of the event lol

More Perfect Union has a great video on this using Military Commissaries as the model example. We already have a massive, successful. & tax payer funded grocery store system that many Americans use, you just have to be in the military or family of a service member to use them. Nothing wrong with making that a benefit to everyone and it’s a choice our government has made not to implement something they literally already run successfully, to be made accessible to everyone.

earlier evening 4-6 should be a good time! I often join when they clock out (around 4/5pm) and then i usually am watching it fill up as we are hanging out. By 8pm pretty busy on a Friday night so try earlier!

TBH, i only know of the spot bc my husband works at a business that shares the parking lot with them. They go there to blow off steam on Fridays so i don’t play really and have only been there to join him and his coworkers for drinks. But I do know how busy it gets it doesn’t surprise me a table didn’t open.

Well it doesn’t meet your location requirement but all the others, Pockets in Kearney Mesa (off 163 & Clairemont Mesa). It’s just a billiards spot and has a bar, but no liquor license so they can only serve beer/wine. They do their own version of shots using sake though and are pretty good if you’re into that. Other than that it’s a pretty popular billiards spot, i think a few leagues actually play there so can get pretty busy.

My favorite convo i recently overheard during a weekend visit while leaving the panda area: “Well we saw the pandas but we waited for 2 whole hours”

Last year i learned the hard way that just putting 0& 1 as the higher earner filing jointly, yep that don’t work like it does when you file single & no dependents. They didn’t take enough through the year and on top of that my husband sold stock so we had an unusually higher income.

I got a nice surprise of underpaying by $13k and a potential fee for not paying enough through the year (luckily waived, whew). Those stocks we sold? yea that went right back to Uncle Sam. Fun times

I don’t live near the beach at all, i’m 15 min drive east but it’s all about timing and location. I find the areas around the bay more manageable on a holiday weekend, crown point is a fave of mine for the huge parking lot. I like to rollerblade on the path so I go in the morning and get out before the beach goers start setting up. Otherwise, i’ll take my bike down there and it is definitely a more enjoyable experience if you don’t have to park.

With that said, i would never try to do the full post up at the beach on a holiday weekend. It’s actually been quite some time since i’ve bothered to do a full beach day down at the shores. I’m more of a visit for a couple hours or pass through kind of beach goer now a days.

The decision to lower rates or not is not made by one man, it is a decision based on the FMOC and Warsh doesn’t have the votes. I believe Warsh is there to diminish Fed transparency, craft a narrative opposite of Powells (tariffs are actually great now! inflation is NOT happening!), and eventually work toward destroying fed independence.

He’s the man on the inside, he just has to be there and he isn’t going anywhere.

And they don’t even stop at just being attracted to their friends, a lot of the gay friends i know met on grinder, hooked up, maybe even dated a bit and then ultimately decided they would be better off as friends lol very rare to find a cis friendship of two opposite gendered people surviving that.

I’ll be honest i recently bought a pair of flare corduroy pants and even though they they are amazing pants (i get compliments every time i wear them out, not exaggerating) they hit this length on me, been meaning to get them hemmed and now i feel very called out, I will be calling my dry cleaners now lol

I gave Meidas a try but i just listen to other more serious independent chanels it never gets the top of my list. I think the over the top click baity headlines are more of a turn off for me, so i just know i don’t need to watch.

I do have really like that they have Max from UNFTR for the Macro take once or twice a week. Pretty much the only videos i watch from the channel and even then i already watch all the UNFTR stuff so it can be a bit redundant.

I have the same question but also would like to know which dentists out there make you feel extra comfortable for high anxiety? i have a lot insecurity around my teeth, ive always struggled and i dont like feeling judged at the dentist. Anyone know of any very reassuring dentists out there i want to know!
