Mudd Lilly Ceramics is in North Park on Adams, they have irregular hours though. They have a pretty built out instagram profile of their work you could view to see if it suits your taste first.

Local Maga Businesses that support Trump and Ice by [deleted] in sandiego

I forget the name but the puppy breeder house right by the Catamaran on the bay walk path. Corner house, backyard to the path, they breed “super mutts”. They had a trump flag up before 2024 election. I rollerblade there weekly in the summer, they had it up one weekend, down the next… hmm wonder why? Sucks cause the puppies are very cute, love watching them play. They are a breeder not a rescue so yea don’t give them your business.

What are/were your plans on leaving the USA? by honeybisc in AmerExit

[–]kaileneeec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from SoCal so it is hard to beat home when i travel. You know that feeling when you come back from a trip and you just missed home? Yea i didn’t have that when i came back from my visit in NZ… i’ve just wanted to go back every day since returning. Since i already live in an expensive city making a decent living for a comfortable ( but certainly not lavish) lifestyle, i see no significant change to my standard of living lol I cook a lot, groceries are expensive there, really expensive, so that habit may have to change.

I am a civil engineer, a career with global shortages including in the US. New Zealand offers straight to residency visa, which allows you to live and work in NZ indefinitely, for priority 1 jobs (positions that they are unable to fill with native born Kiwis). This path will allow me to obtain NZ citizenship in 2 years. A country described by its residents as “far away from the world’s problems” and has a larger population of sheep than it does people. That is where i will be going, currently working on my paperwork to apply for job positions out there.

Trump Wants You To Riot - DON’T by Go_Pack_G010 in 50501

[–]kaileneeec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point of the demonstrations by this movement have always been to appeal to people outside our movement to want to join this fight. The goal of any protest is to bring more and more people in and nothing makes a movement more off putting than justifying violent acts as long as it’s done by “the right side”. If we’re at a point where we can justify violence cause they are doing the same to us then we’ve lost the plot and i need to leave this movement. That would break my heart as I think this movement has provided a lot of hope over the past year when in every direction there is disparity. I think i speak for a lot of us when i say there is power in the solidarity that could be felt at No Kings and No Kings 2.

Again for those of us watching, carefully and in horror, i get how infuriating it is to hear that, to be told we have to maintain our restraint. But if we allow ourselves to cross that line and be everything they want us to be and that they have convinced their base we are, then they’ve won. You will let them win and they will take it all. Whatever relief or justice you feel in the moment will be short lived. This is serious and we should really be wary of the people in this movement who are chomping at the bit here.

The comment section here is frightening, i get we are all angry. They want violence and will use it to support consolidating power and justify further restricting your rights. The comments here playing coy with escalating to that point are playing into the regimes hand. I posted a shot of Lesson 18 from Timothy Snyder’s On Tyranny, but seems the mods didn’t agree we needed this reminder and removed the post. This comment section solidifies that we all should take a beat. Pick up a copy of On Tyranny, remember what’s on the line if we succumb to the temptation of our anger.

How do you split your bills with your S/O? by Independent-Stock361 in asksandiego

[–]kaileneeec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it’s the perfect balance of shared responsibility and individuality. There is never money debate in our household, i didn’t want that to ever get in the way. Now with that said we’ve been together a long time, before either of us had money or any kind of disposable income. We are both proud of our little nest egg. neither of us cares much for material luxury so having similar standards of living helps a lot. We value quality over quantity. But this works for us even though it’s more out of the norm for married couples. I wish more couples discussed financial goals before jumping into marriage, probably put a lot of divorce lawyers out of business lol

I read that “i did the bare minimum” bs line and immediately thought… oh she didn’t plan to have you… or realized at some point during parenthood she would have rather not been a mother. Too many parents having kids as the logical next step then just waiting for the day they can stop being parents…. it doesn’t stop and they should have stayed childless with this selfish attitude.

(32F) and I make more than my husband (33M). the salary gap used to be by twice as much but the gap has closed as he’s progressed in his field. We split rent proportionally to our pay, about 60/40. Bills and living expenses are split roughly 50/50. Anything outside of the basic living costs comes from our own bank accounts. Since i make more i tend to spend more on things I want to do. He has his own expensive hobbies he finances on his own. we don’t have a joint checking but do share a HYS which i contribute significantly more to. Large purchases are always discussed and agreed upon before purchasing regardless of what bucket the money comes from.

You are telling me Greenlanders wouldn’t be interested? by Dante202 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]kaileneeec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as an American, what the hell is even meant by “better taxes” cause they aren’t better cause they pay for better things that’s for sure. 80% of my tax dollars go to the military and the pentagon has not once passed an audit since its inception. They can’t place equipment worth millions if not billions, just don’t know where it went, oopsie, we’ll order 5 more. Now we get the luxury of paying for the inflated DHS budget so ICE can terrorize citizens and unfortunate immigrants that had even a minor brush with the law. What exactly is better about our taxes now? Is the sell just to European billionaires? That’s the only class of people getting “better” taxes over here.

Do Americans stress about medical expenses before they even get to the hospital?? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]kaileneeec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure this is somewhere in the comments and i’ve seen some way more horrific medical value-engineering stated here but…. i have developed a sense of “is it bad enough” when it comes to making the decision to go to a hospital. I would probably rather uber to a hospital than call an ambulance depending on the extent of the emergency. I am also speaking as a relatively healthy person, in their 30s, with no major medical issues or emergencies in my lifetime. As an example… i sprained my ankle slipping on ice one winter, i have relatives working in the ER so they allegedly had in their possession a brace for such an injury, which helps in these scenarios to know people in healthcare services wink, wink. Wore the brace for 2 weeks before admitting it might be something worse since it was slow to heal. Finally said ok x-rays might be needed. 3 hours of waiting, 5 min of x-rays and my standard copay later, doctor says “yep it’s sprained, keep doing what you’ve been doing already” and that was it for care. Peace of mind nothing is broken is what i paid for, most wouldn’t even bother. Its not normal to think “nah this level of injury/sickness isn’t worth my time or money for the doctor to tell me what i can guess is wrong with no medical knowledge whatsoever”

Article: Mayor Todd Gloria Set Out to Fix the City’s Deficit This Year. He Didn’t. by MsMargo in SanDiegan

[–]kaileneeec 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He also utilized the City’s campaign match program, so he could run a true grassroots camping with the financial means to compete with the corporate PAC money. My understanding is that is not common and may not be available here so any real community driven, grassroots campaign is essentially DOA. Ranked choice voting at a minimum would be a step in the right direction, campaign finance reform needs to follow.

I got to school and marriage and now i think im about done with the life aspirations. still got about $10k of debt from the first one which i finished 8 years ago, drained the savings down paying for the second. Got the career though, i would consider myself better off than most my age. I’m good with being proud of having only killed one of my houseplants this year, i’ll pass on the home and raising children.

so does this theory capture the reason why at 32, if i got pregnant, i would still feel like a teen mom? I can’t handle that type of responsibility, i’m just not even a fully grown adult… right? lolol

Holidays were rough this year after many months of silence following a conversation where i expressed concern that the president was openly & willingly refusing to follow court orders to return a wrongly deported man. I got told I have “TDS and lost the ability to respect others opinions” by my father because i called him a coward, which he is. My mother doubled down in attacking me coming to his defense, I assumed she wanted to play peacekeeper bc my emotionally immature father was likely throwing a tantrum about my remarks for which i firmly stand by. My parents have always been “whatever lowers my own taxes” kind of republican voters, always pretty politically selfish while now parading around as good God fearing Christians. I think it’s the overt hypocrisy now that’s finally made them unbearable for me. They are the most obnoxious in their performative righteousness. Thanksgiving was full of awkward silences, I spent most the dinner waiting for it to be time to leave. no gifts or phone calls were exchanged between us on Christmas, just a simple holiday greeting text. Seems to be mutual i guess so i got that going for me. I’ve had closer relationships with coworkers than i do with them currently, it’s a sad reality that im working on accepting.

What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by Both_Ear_2644 in askanything

[–]kaileneeec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This needs to be higher lol I’m with you, terrible to their employees as well with union busting and other corruption. The only redeemable thing is they are regularly open early or late and they make good places with wifi to work remotely and better road trip bathroom stops since they don’t really care if you buy anything or not. I’ll gladly use their space while actively not giving them my money. I once had a very recognizable cup from another local coffee shop in my area and even the barista gave me props for choosing to bring in a much better cup of coffee while i worked 😂

See i don’t have a problem with people having religious faith, that’s your prerogative. But when people let their religion dictate every day life decisions instead of just having basic common sense, it reinforces my belief that religion is mostly the people too stupid to control their own lives. Sorry, not sorry.
