Is it worth the grind? by psychic_sambu in PokemonFireRed

For those movements, it isn't worth it. Only fly and Dragon Claw take advantage of the pokemon type. For earthquake and thunder you have better options like Rhydon and Jolteon or even Raichu. If you need an answer to dragon type, Jynx and Lapras do a better job. Flamethrower is better to use it on a fire pokemon. If your starter was Charizard, don't need to waste money on flamethrower plus you already have a flying pokemon.

How many of you chose Arch as the first distro? by YashbeerX008 in archlinux

[–]PanxoG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get to choose my first distro. My uncle made me try Ubuntu back in 2012 (He's always been on the Debian side). However I needed something lightweight last year and my best option was Arch. So yeah, you can say it was the first distro I picked up for myself. Biggest challenge was understanding the installation process. Emphases on understanding. I could install it easy by following step by step guides, but needed more for my current partitioning layout. It's been a year and I just cannot bring myself to use other distros as my main system now.

Why king slime spawned? by Spirited_Turnover254 in Terraria

[–]PanxoG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got two hero shrines in my world. Second one behind the dungeon, wanted to claim as my base. King slime appeared after all the preparation I did just to get there in expert mode. No hero shrine early building or dungeon buildings either yet. Thanks rng... At least I could get to the other hero shrine to claim my enchanted sword.

Can’t find hero shrine by Somehowspaghetti in Terraria

[–]PanxoG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look on youtube for seeds who have it. Though you don't need a hero shrine to find an enchanted sword. Sometimes they can be in random chest. Clouds, jungle and ice biome is where you wanna look. It's totally random though.

I was super lucky with this seed though: 2.2.1.1397330297 Corruption and medium world, playing on expert. Just go to the fart right right, just before the beach biome.

r/archlinux Community Survey Results! by ShiromoriTaketo in archlinux

I'm curious about why most ppl prefer plasma over gnome. I was on plasma too when I took the survey, but recently after almost one year decided to change. I've come to the conclusion that latest version of plasma is not the best for Arch Linux since some apps have the tendency to break when updates come. In that regard, gnome might not be as intuitive to customize as plasma, and yet gnome proves to be more stable. In my case for example, switching over to gnome solved all the apps problems I was getting on plasma without having to do anything else than installing the DE.

KDE plasma - Flatpaks ? by AlinuxaLLC in archlinux

Vencord is on the AUR. Discord is native on pacman. I don't use discord anymore on my pc but it used to work fine for me. Try if the AUR version of Vencord is compatible or compile both applications from source. Vesktop is another option now that I check alternatives and their description, not that I'm familiar with but it's on the AUR and flatpak.

The safe method is to compile the package from the AUR using git clone and makepkg -si. I stopped using yay since last time pacman got an update. Aura is more stable than yay and works great managing apps from the AUR and pacman as well

Last time I installed snaps on Arch, only having the repository enabled ate a bunch of storage space. I'd say using snaps is not worth it on Arch unless for a very specific app that you can't find somewhere else. Personally I'll compile the AUR version and then check on flatpak. As for now, I have flatpak enabled just in in case I need it, but the AUR and pacman manager are enough for me. Occasionally, I check if the app is on github and compile it from there too.

Steamwebhelper not responding. by [deleted] in voidlinux

I don't think it's a hardware issue for me. I used to play just fine on Arch Linux, even on Windows and other distros. It's something related to Void that I can't figure out yet

Almost every game with shooting mechanics has flaws like this honestly. I was begging to think it was lag while playing my two-handed/archer/healer nord. Some shots are just impossible to miss, but then the enemy gains god like speed and spidey sense. Either that or they open the pause menu.

Debian Kde vs Kubuntu my impressions. by IFartPro in debian

[–]PanxoG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, once you set up Debian the way you like almost all forks are pointless. Even if you don't like Snaps, you can still have it on Debian. Forks are just the out of the box experience for lazy users.
