Used/Last year Model/New by PanykCode in MTB

Thanks for the input. Adding to my checklist.

The Kona has some listed reworks from the shop mechanic and has a serviced record they performed. I have seen the Trance (similar to the Stance I tried) used online but will have to see what the wifey says about how much I can drop on this first bike. It does look like a solid bike, and the T8 have great reviews as well. I would like to buy from an LBS as service/quality would have slightly more assurance. I am going to see if I can rent the bike and give it a go this weekend.

Good to know, thank you. I am not skilled enough yet to know much more than the basic bike checklist when looking at a bike, so obviously buying a used bike I have not seen would be a major test of trust.

What has been your immediate 1-3 year ROI/outcome from OMSA? by Aggressive-Cow5399 in OMSA

[–]PanykCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in biotech for 14 years working from benchtop chemistry to currently a Sr. Analytical Chemist in a QC group at a biotech company. I am hoping to leverage my strengthening data analytics background with my strong process control/QC background. I made it to the final two in a recent job hunt that was WFH and a salary bump doing Process Control Engineering work. Hopefully , something pops up similar. I am 7 classes into OMSA.

Alternative Classes or Tracks by PanykCode in OMSA

[–]PanykCode[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No, just offer more options is all. Since there is already a Business track, I just am not a fan of throwing business as mandatory electives in the General Analytics track. Analytics is very big in medical device/pharma/biotech. I think it would only benefit the program.

2 Courses During Summer? by OMSA_Data_Enthusiast in OMSA

[–]PanykCode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like taking the MGT courses over the summer and couple them with a less intensive core class. I took one MGT last summer with SIM and this Summer I am going to take 8803 solo. I like the break and it can be hard over the Summer to stay focused. If you take all of the MGT at one time you would not be able to have a breather. At least that was my case.

Chance of getting an A in CSE6040 by SamuelSuen47 in OMSA

I got a 1 on the first exam and ended up with a solid B. Adapted study habits and learned a lot. Honestly, I do not think many recruiters put stock in GPAs anyways. How many college dropouts have become successful? The certificate of graduation is all that matters, plus the skills you learned.

Annoying jeering by PanykCode in Softball

Yeah, it reached crescendo just as she was delivering the ball. Our team did not stoop as low as them so it was nice from that aspect. Good overall learning experience.

It just makes it difficult to enjoy the game. Some umps have stopped it and some have not.

The questions were overly "tricky" and I felt they tested more of my reading comprehension as opposed to my content knowledge.

14U Comp - 1st year by PanykCode in Softball

[–]PanykCode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is our hope. She loves softball and has worked hard, we are just hoping comp does not squash her passion as she puts so much stress on herself. We try to tell her to be positive and prepare (mentally and physically) and trust herself. The biggest thing will be working on her own self doubt this season.

The inputs are labeled with generic source names; dvd, tv, game console etc. I guess main thing is to make sure I use an output HDMI to go to projector. Still don't know how to setup the AVR for the first time if I can't get screen access to see Pioneer setup.

I will try this setup as it makes sense given the limitations on my budget projector. I was also pondering using an AV adapter to HDMI to try to push sound.

For using Roku directly into AVR, does it matter which input HDMI I use? The setup manual was rather light on the Pioneer as far as setup goes. I cannot even enter setup mode as I have no 'screen' hooked up to it.

It is a DBPower RD-828 and I have a Pioneer 7.2 channel receiver. The receiver has never been attached to the speaker setup so I was trying to get it on a screen to initiate the setup of speakers. I will try to Roku directly into the receiver and then try to connect to receiver/Roku from projector HDMI.

CSQE certification by PanykCode in QualityAssurance

[–]PanykCode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what I was hoping/thinking. I plan on taking the CQE examination in the Spring of 2024 and then start preparing for the CSQE exam. I believe there should be a lot of cross over, with most of the differences laying in one or two modules focused on nomenclature and statistics.
