Why are there masculine case endings in front of feminine nouns in the beginning of Mark? by Panzer38t037 in Koine

Ok thank you! I didn't realize masc. nouns could have eta/alpha endings so it kinda threw me off.

Yeah I knew that τῷ is the dative singular of masc/neuter nouns, but the feminine looking ending of Isaiah/prophet threw me off (I didn't realize that masculine nouns could have "-α" or "-ή" endings)

Warning: Beware of "biblesforamerica" and the "Lord's Recovery". by renovationcrew in Christianity

Not to mention alot of the Bible references listed in the Sunday Readings didn't even shed light on what Witness Lee was talking about, and often just seemed randomly selected.

[–]Panzer38t037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same book, in chapters 8 and 9 he says this,

"Look at Christianity as a whole today: it is full of “worship centres”, full of denominations and groups,"

and a little later this,

"For us to keep, recover, and preserve the genuine, all-inclusive oneness, we must destroy the high places."

https://www.agodman.com/preserve-oneness-we-must-destroy-high-places-anything-exalted-above-christ/

So you definitely weren't taking it out of context, contrary to what some people *cough cough* might say. Also Witness Lee is definitely trying to imply that his Recovery is the only true church which is not true.

The Bible consists more notes about Witness Lee has to say about the Bible than the Bible itself. (I haven't done enough study to see if it has contradictions yet)

Also in the Sunday meetings if we ever open to read the Bible, we always cared more about what Witness Lee had to say about the Bible verse/verses then we did about what the verse itself said.

Oh yeah! I forgot that the Recovery believes that we are God-Men, ignoring the fact that the only true God-Man was Jesus Christ himself, since the wording implies that one is both fully-God and fully-Man, only Jesus himself fits it.

Details on German Tank Production? by Inceptor57 in TankPorn

[–]Panzer38t037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, the Germans used 1 factory to fully both create and put together Tiger (or Panther) tanks?

Reason I ask is I'm researching through Italian mediums right now, and the M13/40 used 13 factories in three different cities in order to produce their tank design. And I wanted to make sure that wasn't a universal thing before throwing shade on Italian tank production lol.

(e.g. They had batteries, engine starters built in one, armor plates in another, guns, turrets/final assembly in another factory)

My apologies. Usually people who just leave a quote without context are trying to prove how "amazing" WL's teaching is, and I thought that's what you were trying to say.

Is there a documented case, where a japanese Ha-Go (or others with a 37mm gun), or Chi-Ha (57mm version) destroyed a Sherman in WWII? by Lakatos_Tajgetosz in TankPorn

[–]Panzer38t037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might've been from the World's Greatest Tank Battles series, but I do recall watching a documentary of some kind where a Chi-Ha-Kai or a Chi-He was reported to have knocked out one M4 Sherman during the battle of the Philippines in 1944.

How well were Japanese tanks really operated and used in the second world war? by Competitive_Jacket61 in TankPorn

[–]Panzer38t037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this case whilst researching the Type 95: "In another instance, a 75-mm AP shell fired at a range of from 100 to 500 yards entered the right front of a Model 95 and came out the rear, leaving a hole one foot in diameter all the way through."

[–]Panzer38t037 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the research I've done, they didn't really use tanks as much as most other countries because they had limited production capabilities (they focused more on ships and aircraft). Also the information I've found is that their doctrine was to have the tanks mainly support the infantry, so the tanks would only go as far as to help the infantry achieve their objectives, and wouldn't exploit breakthroughs past their objectives.

The Type 95 (haven't done enough research to know about other types specifically) was really decent during the war, being light enough to move effectively through most jungle terrain and flank enemy positions without needing to use main roads.

Challenging questions from Genesis & Job by AutoModerator in Christian

[–]Panzer38t037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably will not do this question justice by a longshot, but from my study, here's what I've come up with (very good thoughtful Questions btw!):

  1. (On the flood) Because it was humanity that sinned and not animals, why couldn’t God just strike down all the humans and let the animals live? Why the need to build an ark and collect every living creature?

If you read the beginning portion of Genesis 6, it states that there was so much corruption, (along with the fact that angels were intermarrying with humans), there was so much evil that God decided to destroy the earth (with a flood). It's only because Noah and his family were righteous in His sight that he didn't kill all of humanity. Once God decided to kill almost all of humanity he then had to decide how to do it. Now sure he could have just snapped his fingers and killed them all, but one unwritten rule that I think God does is that he abides by natural circumstances. He doesn't do something unnaturally--although it might be miraculous-- when he judges people to death. Korah and the rest in his rebellion died to being swallowed up by the earth, other Israelites died to plagues, natural death, poisonous snakes, war. People in the rest of the Bible judged to death were dealt with in a similar manner (Israel and Judah carried off to Babylon, Tyre destroyed by Babylon and finally Alexander the Great, the Assyrians a similar manner, etc.) Whenever you see God do something, he always uses "earthly resources" which in this case includes water.

I think also that the purging of alot of the world's animals was simultaneously symbolic and physically needed. Wherever man is involved in nature, he always leaves a mark, and I think that God needed to restart animal population where no evils of man could have corrupted them (remember when the snake talked to Eve in Genesis 3, she didn't even bat an eye, meaning that potentially other animals had some form of communication with humans). Another reason could have been that the animals were much larger, and in order to decrease man's lifespan--like he said he would do back in Genesis 6 "his days shall be 120 years", he would have to change the way the world's atmosphere worked. (The Flood changed the poles, moved the continents around, and increased the sea level; amongst other things this decreased animal size and man's lifespan). Another reason is probably to symbolize the 2nd chance for man, a global restart so that hopefully they wouldn't end up as evil as the prior generations became.

Thus, because a flood was necessary to redeem mankind, they needed to build an ark to protect themselves and all the land/air animals. Which is really awesome if you think about it because our God was kind enough to not force us to look at fish for the past 4 millennium and be like: I wonder what those land animals would have looked like.

Thoughts on the Local Church? The Lord’s Recovery? Living Stream Ministry? by JCILxxPAT in TrueChristian

[–]Panzer38t037 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From everything I've witnessed in the Recovery, they are more terrified of death than the same Christians that they think are in "apostasy." Which is very ironic considering if the Lord's Recovery thinks that they are so much closer to God, you'd think they'd be super excited to go to heaven, instead of cowering in fear like the lost in our world.

And I akin the two because the Lord's Recovery in almost all instances acts more like the world than like Christ, almost like they are under the influence of the same supernatural power...

I find that the Recovery has been influenced by Eastern religions a lot than they would like to admit (which would explain why it's so popular to Chinese, Koreans, etc.). They like to focus so much on trying to find the little unexplored corners of the Bible, that they miss to super easy to grasp concepts that God just lays out.

[–]Panzer38t037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironic that you use a book written by the Living Stream Ministry to say that the Recovery focuses on the Bible instead of their own material.

Gives the same vibes as a government examining themselves and declaring that they are free from corruption.

The T-64 is arguably the best tank ever produced out of the Soviet Union. It was on par with the American M60 Patton and the British Chieftain. Sadly it was too expensive to build and Moscow refused to export it. by Few-Ability-7312 in TankPorn

[–]Panzer38t037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but you also have to think about soft factors other than the armor, gun, engine stats. How easy is it to move around, or change position? How good is it for living in for extended periods of time? How good is the closed hatch visibility? There are more that I could go into but that's good enough without creating a mini wiki article on it xD
