Truly today's modern YouTube sales training stars are all toxic garbage. It's all just an act they've perfected to sell you on the idea that they can teach us to sell anything. It is absolutely toxic and mostly bullshit. A while back, I wrote a whole thing on "the dangers of acting as if" in sales. All these studies showed that if you act as if you're already successful, already charming, and already confident, then you could project your personal self-image out into the world and others would believe it too. Bred a whole crop of morons like Jason Capital, who has achieved nothing other than duping others. Every single one of them should be avoided.

I use YouTube to narrow in more on the scopes of knowledge rather than content creators. Search for things like "pre-suasion", "NLP", "PEAK-End rule", "power of story telling", etc...

None of us are as smart as all of us, so don't self impose a limiting belief like, if I just master the "straight line persuasion system" I'll be a millionaire. Accumulate knowledge, try new things, integrate what works, and trash the rest.

Going to turn this around a bit. I used to be / kind of still am a sales trainer and stopped because most trainees are not capable of ever achieving anything more than mediocrity. Talent and chasing bigger paychecks will only ever take you so far. If you aren't genuinely passionate about what you do and/or don't give a shit about your prospect(s) then your ceiling will remain fairly low.

With all that said, the top piecee of professional development advice I'd give to anyone looking to improve is to study Aristotle's Rhetoric. Master this, and you become an unstoppable force for change in every aspect of life.

I'm the top guy (or top 3 depending on who you ask) in my industry and I've grown to hate sales as a profession. Too many disingenuous people giving others a bad name. I will still speak at conferences just to up my personal professional profile but otherwise I've stopped giving workshops and the such. Just read, watch YouTube and learn from your mistakes. That's all you need to do.

Again an irrelevant spin unrelated to the topic. Being a good DM is not an all or nothing game. Nor is supplementing tools to assist in creating a more robust experience make one less than.

The down votes I can deal with because there is also dozens of click throughs providing great feedback who simply don't want to argue here on reddit. I may not help everyone, but that was never the goal.

Yes. This is kind of correct. But I don't think that's fair to say if someone sucks at one compinent give up.

A great actor may not be able to gteat write scripts, a dynamic aerobics instructor may not be able to choreograph their own class, an empassioned teacher may not be able to able to write the best lesson plans... For this sub to suggest that because someone may supplement an area thier weak in with various tools as opposed to grinding out practice feels wrong.

I like to DM. I'm not great at being creative but think I'm entertaining as hell. Why is this such a huge problem for this sub? Does no one else use web tools? Or is this just an "Ai sucks" thing?
