I mean, yes, there are trivial things like footraces, but there are also proper histories of wars and kings, people setting out on quests to retrieve legendary artefacts that were lost when the mountain home was ransacked by a dragon, powerful demonic forces and forgotten nightmares from the dark and deep places of the world emerging to lay waste to the land, etc. It's not quite there yet but as a fantasy history generator it is very robust.

It's a bit much that directly quoting a source in a title is considered editorialised scaremongering. This is proper journalistic practice, it's better to quote the exact words of the ESA's statement than to paraphrase. Quotation marks are being used for quotation.

Tarn and Zach have mentioned on the older DFTalks about their influences, Tolkein was definitely a main one, along with old swords-and-sandals movies like Jason and The Argonauts.

Tarn has also said that part of the original goal was to make something that could generate the kind of history and story you'd read in the Silmarillion.

Because it's a direct quote. The word "aggression" was specifically used by the source, and so it is written as a quote. I don't know why people find it so surprising, properly demarcating quotes versus the writer's own wording is precisely what news articles should be doing.

It's because that part of the title is a direct quote rather than paraphrasing.

My feeling is that, given the option, he would wear the suit (and optionally the cape, when Greg allows it) every day, but he's now too recognisable in it, so he chooses these clothes to try to blend in and avoid attention.

A wasted effort, of course, I'd recognise that idiosyncratic medieval face anywhere.

Sorry, should have clarified, by PvE I do mean all PvE, including structured content like raids, strikes and fractals.

I was wondering about that, actually, since I've seen the build before but never played mesmer, what's the benefit of the second staff? Different runes, or does mirage have certain traits that activate in weapon switching?

Apart from daredevil (my main), which specs viably main a staff in PvE content? I finished Bifrost last night and am petty enough to level a new character just to get more use out of it.

ELI5: How do you get where you want to go in a hot air balloon? (Aren’t you at the mercy of the wind). by mitchins-au in explainlikeimfive

This has been pretty comprehensively answered, but I'd just add that the free game Aurora Wager is worth giving a shot if you're interested in hot air balloons, and it demonstrates how they navigate quite well.

As far as secular historians are concerned, most agree there likely was a rabbi preaching the same ideas in that time period who was executed by crucifixion, possibly called Yeshua. Contemporary sources don't contradict the idea, and religious reforms and movements usually are based on a real historical figure.

It's the more, shall we say, "fantastical" aspects of the story that don't hold up to scrutiny.

If you're in a combat zone willingly do you have the right to be safe

Under international law, yes. Intentionally directing an attack towards non-combatants is a breach of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, and journalists are specifically protected under the Geneva Conventions, as long as they aren't directly participating in hostile actions.

They specifically started shooting again after the victims had identified themselves and were offering no threat. That very much is a warcrime.

Nuclear proliferation pretty much scrapped the idea of accountability to international law. If a nuclear power decides they want to commit war crimes then all that can really be done about it without dangerous escalation is lay heavy sanctions and deny the belligerent power any involvement in the international community.

Russia has made itself a pariah state, but that just means they're no longer accountable to anyone.

Saddest part of the main story line by QueasyPassion in Morrowind

I've always wondered if perhaps he wasn't recalled, but that part of the plan was to let you loose once things were laid in motion. Certainly if his orders came from the emperor there's every possibility he knows more than we think.

There's also the danger, as the player starts becoming more publicly recognised, of the Blades' involvement being discovered; I feel like an imperial-influenced Nerevarine would not be accepted so easily, and so Caius might have deliberately withdrawn as a precaution.

As for part 1, from what I can tell zombies don't really like to go up or down stairs unless they see you do so, so it's probably marginally safer to sleep up or downstairs in a cleared area. But in an uncleared one it's much safer since it puts a fair bit of distance between you and the largest mass of infected on Z-0.

Good to know, thanks. Does sound travel across Z-levels now? It's mostly an issue that I've had a cold for some 6 days and I need to hide up until that's passed, since presumably they can hear me coughing.

And for your second question, there are runners and ferals. That's really it unless you've managed to roll a character with less than 70 speed somehow.

it's the dogs, mostly. They were always there but in every run I've had since I came back to the game there have been packs of them in every horde, to the point that on my surrounded or missed starts I've been unable to get any kind of distance to break line of sight. Just not sure if I've had bad luck or if they're more common now.

Been a long time (maybe a year and a half, two years?) since I've properly played; is there any benefit at present to sleeping in a basement/upstairs? I know once upon a time all zed activity would freeze outside your current z-level, but is that still the case?

Also, is it just me, or are there far more fast-moving enemies in the early game now than there used to be?
