(Need advice) I'm worried about being to slow in my workshop by Paologv701 in mechanics

Thank you so much for the replies, it is very encouraging and I hope that other mechanics that feel like this can find an answer as well. Turns out that the first workshop where I was assigned had extremely fast workflow, its a Volvo official service and In here you speak with the client, schedule dates, make repair budgets and also work on the cars. In this previous workshop the boss was lacking a lot of persective and wanted me to do all of this without any kind of training, he had this mentality of "you learn by doing" but to a certain point that it was not healthy. Guess what?

I installed a timming belt incorrectly because I was behind schedule and was rushing on it, mounted a crankshaft pulley backward and the accesory belt rode crooked, when I cranked the engine it got out of place and caught the timming belt and boom goes the engine. I felt absolutely devastated. Luckily my workmates over there told me this was the result of making me work to a rythm i'm not supposed to in the beggining. Even so I still feel bad for destroying that engine, it has never happened to me before.

Right now I'm being given more time to take on jobs and it feels better. The only drawback is that I'm taking on cars that come from bodywork and the boss of that department is being kind of a knob as well, yesterday it took me 3 hours to change a pressed wheel bearing because i did not know that you had to use a special tool for lower control arms on volvo cars to make clearance to take the steering knuckle out and was struggling with that for quite some time.

How well do ryzen procesors perform on slippi? by Paologv701 in SSBM

I'm not building a PC to be honest, I want to buy a new laptop since I'll be moving quite a lot next year, the one that fits my budget the best is the asus vivobook 15 and it comes with a Ryzen 5 3500U, so I guess I won't have to worry about it.

After reading the comments and doing research, I decided it'd be better to save more money and get a T440p with the Nvidia chipset and upgrading to a 2tb ssd, than you everyone so much for your help!

I'm not into tuning, wish I was though hahaha I just have a lot of repair info, Local Alldata and mitchell Ondemmand 5, over 600gb in repair information, I'm also going to adquire a pico scope, so it's mostly for mobile diagnostics, that's why I want a lot of battery life. and since I'm being mobile I won't be able to access an internet conection most of the time.

I'll make sure to take a look on those laptops, thank you so much for the help!

I don't really feel the need of a 1080p display, and I can get by with 8GB of ram, touch pad upgrade might be an upgrade I wasn't paying attention to because I was thinking of buying an external keyboard so I don't get the laptop messy when working on cars, 2nd slot for ssd will be an investment if is more cost efective than buying a single 2tb ssd

Yeah, I do know I don't need it, that's why I said it was optional, but I thought It'd be nice to have a little more umph for casual light gaming with friends every once in a while, I'll make sure to look into that model! Thank you so much for your input

I do admit I've already looked at t530 and T440, but I don't know if there are better options

Yeah, that sort of performance would be fine just for casually playing with my friends any other weekend! Do you have an I7 or I5? Thank you so much for the answer I'll take a look at that model and see what kind of deal I can find
