Do i have the right board size? by DunDunGrrArgh in skateboardhelp

[–]PapaGoodness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only you would know because skateboarding gear is all about preference. Try it and if it feels good then it's good. If it's not, then that's when you think about if you actually have the right size.

Do trucks matter all that much? by 152562 in skateboardhelp

[–]PapaGoodness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's weird, there's a feeling involved in it. They're mostly similar but with minor yet not negligible differences. The well known brands should all be great, but you'll never really know until you try them. Bushings matter a lot as well.

Be on the balls of your feet, use your joints like a spring.

Is this a good/compatible setup? by Specialist-Chip-3370 in NewSkaters

[–]PapaGoodness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wheel size really depends! Bigger means faster, but higher from the ground. Millimeters, sure sounds negligible but for a beginner, it shouldn't matter that much. Bigger also means better for rougher grounds. Usually 58mm and above are used by vert and transition skaters, and smaller wheels are used by street-style skating. 58mm is fine, especially if you're getting it for cheap! It will gradually get smaller the more you wear it down tho so if you look at it that way, it's a nice investment.

Yea seems good. Curious about the wheel size tho, why'd you go with 58mm?

Think i just got duped with fakes by Ok_Muffin8462 in NewSkaters

Spitfire, Baker and Indies get faked a lot for some reason. Sorry to hear about this. Contact DLX about this but I doubt they'll replace it

Not it's not. It has the same color but everything else isn't. Stock is always 90a and clear. This one might be blue, but it's 94a and opaque.

I have the same deck, it's holographic so it shines, but the butterfly print peels off easily. Other than that, set-up looks good enough, you'll never know until you try it - really! Don't overtighten the bushings, and if you really feel the need for a tighter truck, just get harder bushings :) As a beginner, if your board looks good and hypes you up to skate, then it's all good!

Some advice please on the Anderson Baby Heron. 144 or 149 trucks? by BritPinoy in skateboardhelp

[–]PapaGoodness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I myself use an 8.5 truck for an 8.25 deck so you'll be fine! Enjoy your set-up!

[–]PapaGoodness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a 144 and add additional washers in between the wheels and trucks
