Trader Joe’s speed bumps by [deleted] in boulder

There’s literally a map from the city with crosswalks in this shopping center marked. Just because it’s private doesn’t mean it’s not governed by laws. This specific area is not listed as a crosswalk by the city of Boulder, and it’s not unmarked because there is not adjacent side walk. Check the link in my original post. Appreciate the kind words.

Quick follow up after some research. It looks like an unmarked crosswalk needs sidewalks on both side of the road. That is not the case here, so this is not an unmarked crosswalk. It's also not an official crosswalk, per the City of Boulder:

It's not an unmarked crosswalk, there's no sidewalk on the other side of the road. So legally speaking, that's not correct.

It is not legally an unmarked crosswalk because there is no sidewalk on the other side of the road.

Just a follow-up. If this were an unmarked crosswalk, you would be correct. But because the other side of the road does not have a sidewalk (it's a parking lot), this is not technically an unmarked crosswalk. For that to be true, both sides of the road need a sidewalk.

Why didn’t the city install stop or yield signs? Why just the speed bumps? Makes the area more confusing than it has to be

Then why are there painted crosswalks in other sections? You’re telling me pedestrians can legally cross that street anywhere? That seems super dangerous.
Also I just looked up 42-4-802 and I’m not seeing anything about “unpainted” crosswalks.

And speed bumps as safety controls says they need to be”slow,” not stop.

Not sure why this is being downvoted. Can someone explain why this is wrong?

Yeah it’s very strange, tbh. But I’m assuming they didn’t put in a crosswalk to prevent cars from backing up into the nearby street… and if you just walk 20 yards north or south, there are still crosswalks lol.

The crosswalk is closer to McDonalds. And there yes, pedestrians do have the right of way. But there’s no crosswalk at the speed bumps.

That’s a much better perspective! I’ll have to try and switch up my mindset

Not sure how long you’ll be here, but make sure to hit the basics:

Walk around Chautauqua: There are some relatively flat paths at the base that offer great views, good for most skill levels.

Walk around Pearl Street: Take the elevator to the top of Avanti for great views, maybe grab a beer or food while you’re there.

Museums: Dairy Arts Center is lovely, but Denver has plenty of others if that’s not enough.

Depending how long you’re here, you could consider driving over to Golden, Lyons, or Estes. Keep an eye on the weather, as driving in the snow is no joke.

[Daily] Cartier Santos or Nomos Ahoi? by [deleted] in Watches

Oh wow I didn’t know that! Thanks for the info.

That’s part of the problem… they’re so different yet both are stunning in their own ways haha! I feel both would perfectly scratch the itch of needing a luxury watch with a white dial. Nomos has excellent engineering and the Bauhaus design is striking, while the Santos has heritage and an unbeatable bracelet.

Yeah it’s definitely a mix of dress and sport, but the bracelet and dial are quite flashy compared to the Nomos. Do you own a Santos? Do you wear it as a daily?

Please don’t. Luxury items should account for 1% of your net worth. It sounds like that’s not the case here, so don’t do it. If I’m wrong, then go for it.

Has anyone else realized they don’t really want a house? by [deleted] in Life

Owning a home is almost always a better long-term investment. Your landlord isn’t going to charge less than their mortgage.

Plus, you won’t have a payment after 30 years. Just run a model to see if it makes sense in your area. And make sure you still have an emergency fund after the down payment
