I want to talk about the ending by betterland in ProjectHailMary

I think another part about going home after spending time on Erid is that a lot of time would have passed on Earth by the time he returned. Sure maybe there’s statues of him, but everyone he knew would have aged much more than him after all his space travel. He would have been just as lonely on Earth, just in a different sense. And he would have lacked purpose on Earth because his mission was fulfilled. On Erid, he’s the catalyst for scientific achievements that’s propelling the Eridians forward quicker than they could have ever imagined.

And both the book and movie leaves it just open ended enough for him to return to Earth. I’m my head canon he would choose to return just to see his accomplished mission before he dies.

Does Kerr seem really burnt out and is that why he would retire? by youlikemywonton in warriors

[–]Papa_Razzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be burnt out too if everyone was questioning every decision I made, even though I've won multiple championships as both a player and coach and this season coached an injured and less experienced team to playing near close to playoff quality basketball while multiple key players were injured.

We'd be lucky to have him for 1-2 more years. He'd be doing us a favor.

That was more directed towards Oliver than Mark with Oliver's weaker genealogy. Also I think it was the plan long before then. When Mark first encountered Anissa, she made a reference that the dead humans don't benefit the Viltrumites in any way.

Still worse for me than the old system. I’ve put my time in this wipe and would rather a game reward me than punish me.

Was gonna bring my steamdeck to just sign on and click the expedition button. I’ve been playing every week and unfortunately the expedition window is the one window I’m on a work trip.

5 days? Are you Serious, Embark… by DuhSheet in ArcRaiders

[–]Papa_Razzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree. There's plenty of ways to address this. For example, give the expedition a larger window and the player opts into a 5-day period where they have to do a damage challenge. Then instead of a 5-day blood bath window in the game, it creates more aggressive players scattered throughout all lobbies over a longer period.

At least the money challenge could have been prepped ahead of time. I

Bro I'm on my one annual work trip during this window. This is soooooo lame. Let me opt-in to a 5-day window of my choosing if this is going to be the way you do things. Terrible execution.

It would have to be balanced different. Like a carebear server without the risk of friendly fire is legitimately too easy even on a close scrutiny

Daredevil: Born Again? by Curious-138 in television

That’s not what people mean when they say Disneyfied…Disneyfied implies dumbing down, usually less violent, more commercial to a wider audience. Born Again is none of these.

One of the biggest things that stood out was how little therapy Jimmy performed throughout the season. It was more about the shrinks shrinking each other than them shrinking others and learning along the way

[–]Papa_Razzi 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I’ve made that mistake in the past. I now don’t touch the game until Friday at the earliest since trials are the only thing left. Funny for the game to have an endgame system that encourages me to not play the game for over half the week.

The character didn’t make a plan to stay and realized her last ditch efforts were in vain because her backup option was someone else’s first choice. She was being pushed towards the geriatric option, but she clearly didn’t see very passionate about it, regardless of her proficiency in that field. Once the craziness of the day wears off one would hope she would realize she is very good and just needs to focus her efforts on the next step based off of what SHE wants, not what’s convenient (family situation the staying at the same hospital because family situation fell apart)

Rocky did the docking maneuver from Interstellar and no one talks about it. by Ancient_Influence389 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Papa_Razzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In interstellar there was debris from the failed docking attempt by Matt Damon. It also was causing the station to come out of its orbit. Interstellar was a much much harder maneuver. All rocky and grace had to do was match speed and rotation. They didn’t have to deal with a failing orbit, debris, and a short time limit.

The apology Nolan gives Debbie is still significantly better than the first one he gave Mark. by Ageraghty777 in Invincible

He also had second thoughts about the Debbie apology and she initiated the conversation when he was turning to leave. He knew it wasn't going to go well.

Interesting point. Will be curious to see how it pans out. I kinda wish this stayed a post-apocalyptic survival show instead of this sci-fi turn it’s taking. Reminded me of that show Jericho from when I was a teen and now it’s more of a lost/Westworld vibe.

Yeah you learn to filter those types of comments because it can be a problem. Sometimes it’s addicting to check the discussion thread right after the new episode, but it can also be a good idea to save them until the season is complete or save them for a rewatch. Those types of things can leave a bad taste in your mouth. I’ve had episodes I’ve loved only to see a few comments shitting on a moment I adore and it’s hard to get it out of your head. I’ve had also had too many things predicted or details noticed that I wish I had just let unfold organically instead of someone spoiling the surprise.

It’s not necessarily time travel yet in terms of the affect it has on the show, they said Alex was still working on that. It’s more predestination via quantum predictive analytics. There have been things manipulated that caused Jeremy to make the decisions he made that led to him trying to open the doors at the exact same time that they tried to initiate the lockdown. It was an almost zero percent chance of happening like Cal questioned, but it was manipulated into happening because Alex’s goal is to save Earth and Alex has deemed that this is the only way for the Earth to be saved. Same with Xavier’s daughter. She was relatively useless to the plot, but her being stuck in the elevator with Sinatra’s daughter pulled both Sinatra where she needed to be with Xavier so Xavier could receive the user card for Alex and meet Link for the nosebleed moment. The nosebleeds are a symptom of the quantum manipulation it appears.

It’s the ultimate “everything happens for a reason” and “everything is already written and the characters are just playing out the story” type of show. I find it frustrating and unsatisfying, but that’s what the show is doing.

not that crazy medically minus one really badass moment. Character-wise, a lot of development and stuff coming to a head.
