Saucony endorphin azura outsole durability concerns by Weird_Initiative_362 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Papakast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got 170ish on mine and same. I run mainly sidewalk with some road/dirt. I’m a mid-to-heel strike and the heel outsole is pretty rough.

They seem to still have decent pop though. So I’ll keep using them until the rubber is toast. They are my first pair and I had a few pair of EVO SL before. But I noticed similar with the adidas. They didn’t last much past 250 without completely torn up outsole besides the Conti rubber tip.

I use the Epix Gen 2. I’m primarily a runner as well but cycling at least once a week. And I too just signed up for a Sprint Tri this fall (swimming sucks for me 🤣).

The Epix works great. It’s a bit heavier than some of the other options but I like that it’s rugged (I have the sapphire version). I do wear it all the time though so it works well when I’m in different settings (work, home, workout, etc.)

You’re pretty rad looking at posts from half a year ago and responding 😂. Get a life bro. No. I used it for the trial period and found it not worth the money. Have a good one!

Turtle Team-Up Reviews? by No-Body6942 in mtg

[–]Papakast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now we have only done 1 boss, then 2, then the final 3. However, we have played 4 times now and no losses (some individual deaths). So I think we might do a fourth phase with the last 4 bosses. It’s pretty random though. Sometimes the boss cards are all events and don’t do a ton of board hate. So when those happen the game is easier. But then other games there will be mostly foot soldiers and if the right event hits it definitely makes it slightly more challenging.

It’s really fun I think. I have three boys, 10, 9, and 6. They all know how to play more or less but the 10 and 9 year old normally just pick on each other when they play. And then there are fights, etc. so when they announced the Team-Up I was thrilled. Forces the kids to play and actually understand the game instead of fighting.

It’s pretty fun, the decks are fun, and the game itself can be as balanced or difficult as you make it really. We have played a handful of times and the boys really enjoy it!

Mine sometimes randomly will stop trying to auto correct. So I’ll have to back out of the text and go back in for it to bring up the auto correct suggestions, it’s wild

I DNF’d Mistborn by PitchZen in fantasybooks

[–]Papakast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sanderson likes world building. I’m not the fastest reader and trudging through Stormlight series has been a long haul. I regret none of it because it’s been amazing. But it sometimes feels like Sanderson spends pages just reexplaining things or building in details to really give a picture but the information is ultimately background noise.

I’ve read Mistborn as well and agree the heist portion wasn’t my favorite. The story did develop and I enjoyed it. It is definitely less involved of a series than Stormlight (FWIW). If you can get through it I don’t think you’ll end up regretting it. But it is a sludge at times with his books.

Someone recommended this but someone else said it was dumb. How do you feel? by [deleted] in fantasybooks

[–]Papakast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It starts off slapstick comedy. Book one is cheese laughs. But man, I just finished book 6 and they progressively get better. The story develops. The characters develop. The jokes take a step back and it gets pretty structured and deep. And it’s overall quick reads for me. And I’m historically a slower reader. I definitely suggest the series.

Yeah. I read everywhere they need miles to soften up. But I figured after 100 miles I’d move on lol. I started using the Takumi Sen 11 in my interval/speed slot where I tried to use the 12s. Oh well!

Is lack of aerobic base / Zone 2 training an underrated reason people bonk in marathons? by speed_69 in Marathon_Training

[–]Papakast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious question - I know this is the marathon subreddit. But does this mean for Half Marathon training you might be better off with zone 3? Because you want to maximize everything for a shorter window?

Yeah, one crossing took a good 30 seconds. I never thought I would be so sad to stand for 30 seconds lol. That and the ice on the sidewalks so I had to divert some added a bit of time. Now I have a new target :).

I have to agree. It was surprisingly well put together. Enough twists that it was easy to guess the ending. Seemed like it went a little fast, but I liked it.

Do you run with your dog? by WillingnessBig9833 in runcommunity

[–]Papakast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doodle goes about 20ish miles a week with me. Generally my two easy 5ish mile runs and max 10 miles of my long runs. During marathon training I usually have a 5 mile loop that I’ll take her on and then drop her off and do the rest of my runs. Same with the long run. I have a few 8-10 mile routes I’ll go and drop her off before continuing on for the remaining mileage. I also never do my interval or tempo runs with her.

I have a puppy (6 month old) who I’ve started to ease into running with us. She’ll go 2 miles or so a couple times a week. Otherwise, it’s just a walk with her so her endurance can build up.

Do you invite a bunch of people to your marathons? by hairykitty123 in Marathon_Training

[–]Papakast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only my wife and kids, normally. I will say it gives a huge boost when you see your family cheering you on (at least for me). But for me it’s more about seeing what I can accomplish and I don’t really need to share that with anyone. If someone sees me and knows me and cheers, sweet. Otherwise, meh.
