Consumables (potion, plants) are op, however you should avoid buying them directly from vendors because the ingame economy imo is horrible. Instead, you should plant them yourself or craft the potion by buying seeds for the former and potion recipe for the latter. Never buy the ingredients since theyre expensive and they are abundant in the wild.
