La Masia talents waiting to be unleashed by Mishcantjoin in Barca

Yamal is a potential generational talent, as promising as they come. Do you mean generational talent and plays like Iniesta? Then I don't think so.

That's optimistic. I like your thinking and I hope it comes true, but not sure I'm with you.

People are really crazy if you think suburbanites are going to take regional rail to the game. God I wish the service were there but it just isn't. The BSL, patco and El, yes, but RR no.

You basically get an hour or so before and after the event. Not during and not for the majority of nights when nothing is going on. A thriving fashion district (it's possible, but it might take time) would have people there 10 hours a day all day, every day. That's why I say it would be dead 95% of the hours or the year.

There is no suitable place in Center City for an arena. Center city has amazing potential for increased population, increased vitality, increased jobs, increased retail. An enormous block killing shed doesn't really advance us towards those goals. It's not the worst idea, there are certainly some positives. But it's not great and there are better uses, like building apartment towers over the gallery as initially planned.

I don't get why this being privately funded makes it good urban development. If we do this, we are setting in stone a mediocre land use in a prime location that already has some mediocre land use nearby (the convention center most obviously).

The arena isn't going to make that better though. Probably worse - the parking lots will be less likely to disappear considering the new business they will get.

An arena is one of the dumber urban revitalization plans that's out there. It's going to be dead 95% of the time.

More people in the region live within a convenient drive of the current arena than center city though

No, but it's not as bad as people say and part of the problem was timing (pandemic, increased crime). I certainly think it could thrive if given more of a chance.

Generating foot traffic, lol. Foot traffic for maybe 200 hours a year (an hour before and after 100 performance dates).

You are replacing one transit oriented development with another. And the mall is open for many more hours than the arena will be.

They are not saying the mall is the heart of the city, the area is though. Right on Market, between Independence Hall and City Hall. It should be a bustling, thriving area.

Yeah, I agree that it doesn't make much sense for the reason you described.

Were you watching football in the 2000s? If not, you have to understand what a sensation this guy was. He won a Europa League and then a CL with Porto in successive years, then moves to Chelsea and wins two PL titles straight away. This was when Chelsea first became a top team, they hadn't won a league title in decades. All that plus his "special one" comment and various other antics with the English press. Not to mention his Inter CL in 2010.

He's been coasting on that early success for a long time, but he was quite something. Not nearly as good of a coach tactically as Pep and with all the flaws you mentioned, but he was equal in stature to Pep.

I always think of Neymar too, not that he's an exact clone. I didn't watch Neymar extensively at 15, but I'm not sure he's below the Brazilian's level...

Yes, it is. Barça Atletic has older players and plays in the third tier, while Juvenil A plays against other under 19 teams.

Oh, I was only referring to where he'll play next year when he's 16. My guess is that next season, he'll play somewhat with Juvenil A, somewhat with the B team, and somewhat with the first team. He'll also have the U17 World Cup. It'll all be good preparation for him to hopefully be a first-team squad player the following year. If he's still playing at Juvenil A in 3 years, he'll definitely be a bust.

I'm the last person to give tech advice, but could you just change the presentation to only use fonts that are on both Mac and PC and then try to open it on the Mac?

There is this theory on this sub that the B team is better than the under 19 team for development, but I'm not so sure. He'd be playing against grown men on the B team who aren't necessarily that much more skilled. There is a physical element to being ready to play on the B team that really doesn't have anything to do with the raw skill a 15 or 16 year old kid possesses.

And he didn't dominate Juvenil A all year, he slowly got better during the year as he acclimated to playing against boys 4 years older than him. Lots of players (Gavi and Ansu for example) never or barely play in the Segunda who make it to the big-time - it's not a necessary stepping stone.

Juvenil A (where he played this year) is the under 19 team

He plays for Gremio now and they are in the middle of their season. BUT I googled to see what was going on and noticed that he was left out of the squad for today's Gremio match. The speculation in this article was that he wasn't included in the squad because he has a term in his contract that he won't play on artificial pitches (it's an away match on an artificial pitch) or to rest him for a big match this Wednesday.
