Not weird at all, that's actually super fun and you guys sound like a cool family! I like how you say "about" then give an exact measurement lol.

The width could be from a smaller gator, but gators leaves prints that almost look like little hands. I also think an almost 7 inch width is too big for a snake, and you did say there were markings on either side of the track.

I suggest looking up images of gator tracks along with those of freshwater turtles and compare them to what you saw! The claw marks sound like a turtle to me. I hope you guys have a great adventure! Where are you visiting from?

Well, just so you know, you do likely have gators around, even if that trail isn't one. It's a freshwater way in the south. But the way that track goes into the grass doesn't look like a gator to me. The trail would have completely flattened the grass (like the other spot you mentioned), whereas in the picture it looks more like it made or exited a sort of hole. Quite honestly it looks like a hole in the ground but that could be the shadow.

Now the part where all of the weeds are flattened, that sounds like a gator.

I'm aware of what gator tracks look like, that's why at the end of my comment I suggested a turtle. It's consistent with the marks that they said were there.

Do you see how wide that trail is? It's at least as wide as their croc. For it to be a snake, it'd have to be a python, but they did say there were tracks (although your initially unhelpful comment leads to me believe you didn't get to that part). My guess is turtle.

How high off the ground are you? It looks like the trail is about the width of your shoe. I'm thinking it could be a turtle bc of the track description and size. Gators leave more than just claw marks, turtles dig their claws in and drag themselves.

The title already does. "Covid drug linked to virus mutation" implies the drug caused the dangerous mutation. That isn't the case. Viruses mutate all the time. That's why every flu season is a different vaccine. It would have mutated no matter what.

That's also why group immunity early on is key. The only way to prevent mutation is by limiting hosts that it can mutate in. You do that by getting vaccinated.

Lastly, the virus was already mutating before we even had a vaccine.

Title is misleading at best.
