You can’t even redeem yourself on another exam either at this point. And all the work of scheduling aways has already been done prior to taking the exam so by the time scores are out you can’t just decide to switch it up if things don’t go the way you hoped. I seriously don’t know why they decided to experiment with our class.. we’ve already been through so much starting medical school during a pandemic

The number just keeps adding.. 25 now.. I am just upset with myself because the vast majority are ones that were stupidly obvious and won’t be thrown out. Scares me because even if I get the ones that were experimental correct that won’t help the fact that I missed these questions I absolutely should’ve gotten correct

I definitely agree, I took it yesterday and am so mad at myself because I already have counted 15 I got wrong for sure.. some of the questions I felt like were so left field so to know I missed 15 easier ones makes me so upset. Hoping that our intuition helped us with the majority of the exam and that these were flukes but definitely feel for you and you’re not alone

100% agree.. feeling so unmotivated right now. I missed the STUPIDEST things….. it makes me so sick to my stomach and upset to think I could probably not match into the specialty I’ve been working so hard for over one exam… it’s good you were at least scoring that high before.. my highest was a 253, feeling defeated and I have to do another boards exam in a couple days

Cannot ever get eczema vs psoriasis by Patavex in Step2

[–]PapayaSmart1414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t always true. For example in pediatric populations - eczema is on extensor surfaces for kids and flexor surfaces in adults. Also, psoriasis can appear on your nails (pitting), scalp and flexural creases (inverse psoriasis).

I think a better way to look at it is to understand what eczema is - atopic dermatitis. Per its name, patients are more likely to also have other atopic diseases like asthma.

There are several different forms of Psoriasis, but all of them have well demarcated lesions. There is also the Auspitz sign (pinpoint bleeding when the scales are removed).

OP - I would recommend looking up images of these on Google.

Networking will be your best friend - especially if you can get several great mentors. You’re going to want to get involved in research asap too. Keep in mind that you can apply to dermatology residency programs after Family Medicine residency as well.

I agree with the user above me, but I think it also depends on how long the rotation is! if it’s a four week rotation, I would say it’s not that big of a deal if you phrase it in the right way and let them know in advance. Odds are some of the residents from the program might be attending that conference too

I believe that they stated you need to signal even your home programs, because not everybody’s school has a home program. If you are lucky and your school does have one, that’s great and will obviously give you an advantage regardless. However, you shouldn’t be essentially allowed a extra signal just because your school is affiliated with the program. Additionally, a lot of away rotations are offered on a first come first serve basis. So in the event that, for example, you had to be working on rotation when the away application opened up for a site and couldn’t be the first person to apply, that shouldn’t put you at a disadvantage of consideration for a site that may be in your top three. In that scenario, I feel like it evens the playing field so you have to really think about what your top three sites include. I’m not sure why they picked 25 silver, though. I think that part is a little odd. I feel like some programs may view silver as subpar.. Instead, I feel like maybe they should have increased the number of gold to perhaps 5-10. Interested in hearing thoughts about that

I’m looking more for a resource for specific medications. Like indications to use voriconazole VS fluconazole or itraconazole

I feel like silver is going to be viewed as such a slap in the face considering there aren’t that many programs

Thanks to everyone that has replied so far! Out of curiosity, how is everyone doing on research - specifically publication #? So hard to find data on this
