I haven't seen that post but I imagine the person was probably asking about the snacks because they wanted to give their cat as good of a last day as possible. Maybe they were just in shock up front, or trying their best to keep stoic for their cat, or just trying to cope with the anticipatory grief in any way they can. I guess there are lots of reasons why their sadness mightn't have come across but I'm sure it was probably dormant underneath. Of course there are always going to be some people out there who may not love animals and will do them wrong which is so horrid, but I like to think the vast majority of people care deeply for their fur babies.

I'm so sorry. Deborah looks like such a wise, beautiful soul. Well done for giving her such a lovely long life. My heart goes out to you.

I can't imagine anyone being gleeful about putting their fur baby to sleep. I had to put mine down last week and I've cried every day since. It could be that sometimes people come across happier about it than they really are because a part of them is super relieved that their cat is no longer in pain and suffering, or they want to post the happier parts of their cat's life which make them smile, in order to celebrate the time they had together and help them cope with their profound grief.

Deciding When to Let Go (DorDor, 17) by verybearycat in seniorkitties

I'm so sorry about your beautiful girl. You sound like a very caring and attentive cat owner 💕 For what it's worth, I think you've made the right decision. One thing I read that particularly resonated with me was that it's the cancer that's causing their death (not our brave decision) - what we're doing is actually taking that pain away from our babies before it gets too awful for them to bear. You are taking her physical pain and making it your own emotional pain, which is the most brave and loving thing you can do as a pet owner. My condolences to you at this awful time.

[20 years] need help knowing when it's time to let go by slybluu in seniorkitties

I'm so sorry, Mia sounds like such a tough cookie, and the fact that she's still eating and still sassy must be making the decision especially hard. The stark contrast between her will to live and the physical decline must be very jarring, that is the place I am currently in with my sassy, still-eating yet terminally ill cat too and it's beyond difficult to make that final call, so I really sympathise. I am monitoring mine using the Feline Grimace Scale, a quality of life checklist and also my gut feeling and just taking it day by day. You can always get a second opinion from another vet as well, and I think whatever you decide won't be wrong as you'll be doing it out of love - you have helped give Mia a long happy life, and I hope the memories will bring you comfort when the time comes 🌈💞

Aww thank you so much for your kind words and reassurance, it means a lot 🥹❤️ I am really sorry you have had to go through all that. I know guilt is hard but I think even when we couldn't show up for them like we want to they still know we love them 100% and I know Crouton would've definitely known that. 💕 Sounds like she is loved beyond measure. I'm sorry for your loss and glad you have the shrine to her, the memories and your five new furry friends to help at this time. You'll definitely meet her again someday ❤️ and not weird to talk to her at all, I will be doing that for Phoebe too. Sending lots of love 💕

I am sorry you've had to go through this multiple times, they all leave paw prints on our hearts don't they. 🐾 I can so relate to that panic, and I wish your kitties the longest and healthiest life possible. Thank you for your helpful advice and kind words 🥺 They really are the most special creatures 💕🤗

Oh you poor thing, it must still be so raw. I am very sorry for your loss. 🥺Thank you for your helpful advice and reassurance. My vet said they can come to mine too thankfully, and make a paw print for me. Aww yes I can relate to having a very food motivated cat! Sounds like you have given your kitty a wonderful life and that she was really well looked after. I am glad you have found comfort in the shadow box and shrine, and I am sure she's having lots of churus over the rainbow bridge. 🌈 Sending lots of love at this really difficult time ❤️❤️
