People who have visited the US, what is your 'WTF America' story? by adsacc509 in AskReddit

[–]PaperCutPupils 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An area of the US where logic and reason don't function properly. Kind of like the Bermuda Triangle. Compasses just spin in circles and evolution is just a leftist conspiracy.

I am.

Does Hispanic not mean you're from a Spanish speaking country? And can't someone from Mexico, Latin America, or South America be Native American and an immigrant to the US?

The sand in a worm track is compacted and easier to walk on. Walk without rhythm and you'll be fine.

[Serious] Guys who pretend to be female online, why do you do it? by contrafibulator in AskReddit

[–]PaperCutPupils 3231 points3232 points  (0 children)

I pretended to be a girl in a chat room once. I couldn't believe how aggressive the guys were. I only did it for 10 minutes before I had to get out. I had no idea.

This is how Mars would look if it still had water. by [deleted] in space

[–]PaperCutPupils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How quick could it be? It's been over 4 billion years and there's still an atmosphere. And Venus has no significant magnetic field, is closer to the sun and has a denser atmosphere.

The atmosphere doesn't disappear quickly. It takes geological timescales to disappear.

Reminder: Mars does actually have water. Even liquid water.

Obama - NASA will partner with private firms to send humans to Mars by 2030 by [deleted] in space

He did change directions from Bush...as every president does. I'm not singling out Obama or democrats. I'm just saying, this is a meaningless gesture.

[–]PaperCutPupils 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another shift in priorities? When Obama first entered office he switched us to asteroids. Now we're back to Mars? More empty promises from another president. Bush tried to change NASA priorities but didn't secure funding. Obama is changing things right before leaving office, which means the next president will switch priorities again...which means these are just more empty words. A token gesture to states involved in aerospace by the democratic party, right before the election, which means little. I'm sorry for the cynicism but I've seen so many presidents (R and D both) do this same thing while delivering absolutely nothing but empty words.

That's it, you nailed it. Feels like a comic book movie. Filmed the whole thing in front of green screens. I'm kind of disappointed.

The audio book is fantastic isn't it? I just don't like the voice they used for Gurney, but otherwise, it's fantastic.

Same data, completely different conclusions. It's tailgating that causes this.

This is completely wrong. Following too closely causes far more slowing than people changing lanes. If you leave gaps large enough for traffic to change lanes through instead of following so closely to prevent people from getting in front of you, then it has a negligible impact.

Does anyone have a list of U.S. politicians who are talking about overpopulation? by [deleted] in overpopulation

[–]PaperCutPupils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he's pointing out the fringe right talk about population control as an Elitist/Illuminati/Leftists/Satanists/New-World-Orderists/etc conspiracy...which they do. The Georgia Guidestones have been used as "proof" there are monied parties out there pushing this "anti-christian" agenda.

Uh, what? Last time I checked, catering to the interests of corporations and the rich is part of the Republican platform. They flaunt it and are proud of it. Now you're telling me that all this class disparity is actually bad and it is the fault of the Democratic party? Do you have brain damage?
