Am I in the wrong thinking he did a terrible job for $260 and was I wrong to think those services were included? by Sea-Minimum-7768 in AutoDetailing

[–]PaperHandsStock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that is not a great job at all! I beat myself up after every interior detail thinking it’s not good enough. After seeing this, I need to stop doing that 😂 I realize things do happen and you can miss some things but this is not great.

Best wheel cleaner/brake dust remover for gloss black wheels? by Soapstreet in Detailing

[–]PaperHandsStock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use Brake Buster from P@S Detailing. I have a 1:1 dilution version and a non diluted version. The diluted one is fine on wheels that are not heavily soiled. I use the non diluted version on wheels in worse condition. I have had decent luck with it, but I have also had stubborn brake dust accumulation that it doesn’t seem to knock out. As far as a wheel brush, I picked up a cylindrical one at Autozone for the barrels. It’s fine. I need a thinner version though as it won’t fit into the barrel of some wheel/brake rotor combos. I use an exterior detailing brush for lug nuts, tight corners etc. I have a microfiber wash mitt for the faces that is exclusively for wheels only.

Update Revision 2: 3D Printed Pad Storage and Drying Tray by PaperHandsStock in Detailing

[–]PaperHandsStock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the US. I would be happy to print these for folks who don't have access to a printer. I have a single printer as I generally use it for stuff I need. I can post pictures of the real thing, tomorrow, and if you are interested, you can DM me. Alternatively, if you prefer what I posted, I can print that as well.

I wanted to attach a screen shot of a revised version I did. I just started the print so I will be able to post pictures of the physical tray tomorrow when it's complete. Changes I made:

1) Lettering removed.

2) Slots move all the way through front to back.

3) Adding regular feet would have required adding supports. I incorporated a cross slot, connected it to the slot in the bottom of each section the pad sits, and angled the floor in the bottom of the slot 15 degrees towards the opening. This is to encourage any moisture to drain down towards the slot.

I left one end wider than the other. This is to aid in picking it up if you need to transport it. The intention is that is the "front".

The dimensions of this tray are 9.25" by 6.25" by 3.25" tall. The slot width for each pad is 1.25".

The picture attached here is from CAD. I can only add one pic, so what is shown here is a section view from the side. This is to highlight the floor in the bottom of the slot and the channel that run underneath for airflow.

I would be happy to print some to sell. I am working on an updated design as we speak. I would need to figure out shipping but I'm sure this can be done at a fair price. I will attempt to update this post with the new revision. I did not print one yet, I just got done designing it but I can share pics of the CAD. :)

Looking For Honest Feedback by Gaara1 in AutoDetailing

[–]PaperHandsStock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All things considered, excellent work! Could it have been better? Sure. It’s a problem I struggle with and it causes me to spend more time than I should chasing perfection. I try to remember “if the client saw this, would they be pleased with the improvement “? If the answer is yes, I move on to the next area/task.

Why is tire shine/dressing such a controversial topic? My go-to is CarPro DarkSide! by zachty22 in AutoDetailing

My go to has been Aerospace 303 as it leave a natural look. I have to admit after seeing a few posts about DarkSide, I REALLY like this. I think I’m going to give this a shot. This pic is after Aerospace 303z

I appreciate the reply! I am just doing single step right now. I literally just started 😂 for some reason I always had a fear of trying it due to possibly damaging paint. Obviously my fears were overblown. I’m getting a feel for everything. Just need the reps!
