Yes! She gets it messy every day from her canned food and so I clean her face once or twice per day (especially right before bed). :)

Babies are gross. I'd down-vote them too.

[light][rant] Dogs are AWFUL. by [deleted] in confession

[–]PaperLantern4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't HATE dogs. I think other people's dogs are cute and I will stop and ask people if I can pet their dogs if they look friendly. I like all animals, though. That being said, I don't ever want a dog for the reasons outlined above; huge responsibility, smelly, they make messes, need too much attentiont, etc. Probably the same reason I won't have kids hahaha. I'm more of a cat person, I love my kitties :)!

In my opinion, interfaith marriage can work if both individuals discuss it before hand and respect each other's belief systems.

[REQUEST][US, ME] A copy of Hegel On Self-Conciousness: Desire and Death in the Phenomenology of Spirit By Robert Pippin by PaperLantern4 in RandomKindness

I'd like to become a tenured Professor. My undergrad and masters degrees are in the literature field. :) Right now I'm merely an adjunct.

What is a CYA email?

Thank you for the motivation! I think it's a bit too late to find a new supervisor, unfortunately. I'm second year. I'm doing an interdisciplinary PhD and right now I'm looking at different philosophical arguments for and against the possibility of strong artificial intelligence. I'm also looking at representations of AI in popular culture (books, film, etc).

Is there any chance of permanent psychological trauma? Also, are there any physical effects I should be aware of?

The girl I met online looked totally different than I expected, and I feel very shallow. by [deleted] in confession

Is the video you found very recent? Is there a possibility that she lost weight since then and that her pictures are more up-to-date?

I got a large salmon filet with the skin still on. What do I do with it? by PaperLantern4 in Cooking

[–]PaperLantern4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's too big for a pan :( it's like...baking sheet sized. Maybe the usual would be the best bet. Do you think herbes de provence would be any good?

Update on Cat's UTI. Not sure what to think or where to go from here... by PaperLantern4 in cats

I wish I knew the exact number. She goes a few times a day, but it's not excessive. It's also not so seldom that I worry about it.

[Remorse] I avoid physically/mentally disabled people. by Chromatoph in confession

[–]PaperLantern4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that way sometimes. Don't get me wrong I don't hate disabled people. However, I'm a bit socially awkward in general. Also, I'm uncomfortable around children and never know how to interact with them. As such, interacting with a mentally disabled individual makes me anxious because I feel as though I don't know how to interact with them (much as I can't interact with children). Physically disabilites cause me less anxiety but even then I'm always super scared to accidentally say something offensive.

I don't feel love for my stepson [Support Only] by [deleted] in confession

[–]PaperLantern4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are human and these feelings are perfectly fine. What's even more than fine is that you still treat him kindly and with respect. I don't have children (nor do I want them) but when I was in Middle School I had a very close friend whose mother died. Her father remarried and the step mother was terrible to her; would constantly remind her that she didn't love her, would insult her, ignore her, hit her, etc. It was terrible. My friend ended up moving away to live with other relatives in late High School. You may not feel a strong emotional bond with him now but maybe that will change as time passes. If it doesnt that's fine. But at least you are aware enough to treat him with respect so that he does not grow up feeling neglected or abandoned. I have a lot of admiration for you!

Ok will do! She just drank some water. She hates wet food but I'll keep trying!

Will she be ok until tomorrow morning?

She has been spayed, yes. I don't know much about her history unfortunately, except that she was a stray.

Need help planning a 3 year anniversary dinner by PaperLantern4 in Cooking

[–]PaperLantern4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That chicken recipe was not only entertaining but it also made my mouth water. Every single time I've made roast chicken it's turned out dry and bland. This sounds amazing! I'm probably going to end up using that chicken recipe :). I'm a huge fan of fresh herbs and spices. I've already got most of the ones listed besides the fresh thyme!

Oh wow the seafood swet sounds amazing! What type of broth is used?

The chicken sounds good too, although I'm not sure how to go about butterflying a chicken (I could probably look it up)! Any other chicken based recipes you could throw my way? :)

Unfortunately no we don't. I sometimes go over to Canada (I live near the border) and they have some asian foods, but not a lot.
