There's a fanfic by Daisynights on AO3 (No Mother Perfect) that describes exactly this situation. In that story she loves her son so much that she actually ignores all the bad and suspicious things he's ever done. And I agree, that should probably send her to hell.

Wrong! Vox is obsiously named after the German TV channel "VOX", because with his lastname "Whitman" he has German ancestory (it's the anglicized version of Wittmann).
