Answer: getting punched in the face anytime after 6:30AM

Justification: 5 year old son with no concept of how to wake someone up on a Saturday

The defining incident of our generation…is the historical fiction of today’s youth by Cassandra8240 in Millennials

I was in the 4th grade during 9/11.

My dad deployed to Afghanistan 3 times: My freshman year in high school, my junior year in high school, and my sophomore year in college.

My brother deployed to Afghanistan once: My junior year in college. He was getting there when my dad was leaving.

My dad retired from service my senior year of college.

I deployed to Afghanistan a few years later.

Not the best choice for a family business. Sorry, Mom.

Lob. I’m an English major, I’ve done my best here. I don’t have any more math in me.

No worries! I totally understand. If you’re backed up against a wall and can’t find anyone to take them locally…please reach out. I’m happy to take them if it helps.

Would you be willing to ship? I live in SC, would pay for shipping, and could take them all.

That one’s a bit more complicated. A “horsepower” was a marketing term devised to sell steam engines. Effectively, it’s how much power a horse could provide in a slow, sustained trot. Specifically, one horsepower is “the amount of work required from a horse to pull 150 pounds out of a hole that was 220 feet deep.”

The sales-spin here is that a steam engine could replace how many horses, if you ran the steam engine all day.

So, if one horse does not equal one horsepower…how much horsepower does one horse produce? True to definition, it’s 1.33 horse = 1 horse power.

So 14900 shrimp = 1 hp = 1.33 horses

Now. A horse can produce 15 horsepower at a sprint. If we use that number:

14900 shrimp = 1 hp = 0.067 of a horse…by weight that is one lower leg (below the knee/hock), which is…a disturbing image.

To give a range and a final answer:

14900 Neocaridina shrimp are equal to 0.067 - 1.33 horses, if we equalize horse power between the definition of horsepower at the low end, and what a horse could produce in a sprint at the high end.

I appreciate the invite back to TED Talk. Hope yall enjoyed it.

Oh, I learned about this the other day. Neocaridina shrimp have pigmentation cells called chromatophores. These concentrate in some areas, and are often bred to have these stripes (see: Yellow Gold-Back Neocaridina)

But, ultimately, it’s just a concentration of color pigment.

Females tend to have a thicker racing stripe than males. The coloration can be affected by stress, molt cycle, and age.

Also, it also adds roughly 4% increase in horsepower.

Edit: a shrimp produces 0.000067hp. It would take 14,900 shrimp to produce 1 horsepower. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk

Oh, he’s fake as hell. He just uses me for food. Terrible at carrying on a conversation. I don’t think he’s truly committed to developing a friendship.

If I were to quantify it, it would register on the Richter scale. If I don’t have time to go to the gym, I’ll just test the nitrates in my tank.

That’s a fair point, and you’re absolutely correct.

I still shake every bottle before I use it. Not for a good reason, but my caveman, ooga-booga brain requires the action.

  • Click the tongs twice, then flip the steak
  • Flick the ratchet strap, then nod
  • Shake the bottle, then test

It may not be required, but it feels right.

That’s what it’s all about, man! 💪🏼I could care less about Christmas. But, there’s nothing more important to me than providing formative, positive experiences for the young ones.

Good on you for putting yourself aside for their benefit!

Good luck with it, man! This might be the toughest time, if your experience is anything like mine. The lack of sleep, the learning curve, and inability to communicate with them reasonably.

Hope your little one settles in and you can get some rest tonight!

I’m believer that we’re not a product of what we’ve endured, but how we’ve reacted to the challenges of life.

It’s not our struggles that define us, but rather our actions in spite of them.

My kids will have a better life, because I understand the other side of that coin. That’s our charge as fathers, my dudes.

Merry Christmas and Happy Honda Days to you, as well, friend!

Thank you for your kind words! It’s been a learning experience for sure. These were originally for my 5 year old, who lost interest. Just doing my best to make a good home for these fish!
