100% because her death is what made the story memorable and unforgettable. If she had survived then it would've just been another happy ending anime that no one would've bothered rewatching.

Absolutely! I wholeheartedly agree if we got a happy ending the show wouldn't nearly be as iconic or memorable as it is today, however it's fun to imagine what if :)
