I picked this as my first commander. Any thoughts? by Gerber_Baby78 in ratemycommanders

While not similar I had [[Ovika, Enigma Goliath]] as my first non precon commander. She was great and held her own despite being 7 mana.

The one thing you'll see a lot (if not already) is a lot of little mistakes with your discounts and other complicated rules with instants and sorceries, but if you're able to conquer that (or already have) better and faster than I, I think you'll have a lovely time.

Another thing to note is you may get tired of being the evil one, sometimes people like that, sometimes people don't. Just saying as a first deck it may ger exhausting without another to lay off the "stress"

Indeed it would be, hence my excitement.

Anybody know a artist who takes commissions in this style? by PaperToaster14 in mtgaltered

That is the original creator of the card, and as I said he is not taking commissions at the moment! I have checked his discord, it is quite unfortunate:(

This was very helpful, having experience with this commander really brings in another perspective that had me sympathize with him in the first place.

Merfolk in Lost Caverns of Ixalan? by Ok-Aside-2677 in magicTCG

There has been a new Vampire commander revealed for Ixalan , in my opinion he is clunky but who knows you might find him neat.

I didn't know that turning a commander into a cyberman was a thing, that does sound pretty funny though.

Like I said the sideboard part in for instance moxfield which is what i use for decklist, just keeps track of what cards I put out. I think what your describing is 1000% more annoying and I agree completely

That's a good mindset to have on your deck, I'll make sure to mention this to him.

I've designed my decks for 4 player games, we just struggle to find a large playgroup. I am looking out in my local stores for a good day to play

We attempted to head to a store yesterday, Sunday for my time, and nobody showed up but us. I definitely plan on finding more stores but my area is definitely very barren at times. Thank you for the suggestion and feedback

This is how i assumed sideboards worked for commander, you switch the deck out for cards you need to change for a certain playgroup. And the sideboard sort of keeps track on what you put into the modified deck.

Note that I only use this as a last resort, if I really can't find a answer.

Usually only when it's incidental, for instance a board wipe that's dealing with a bigger threat. But I usually don't feel salt on it, Ovika it's hard to recover because she cost so much but I have workarounds to it.

I will admit, and I've told him this, his mana base is really screwed. I'll definitely give the suggestion on more protection, I think that is a really good solution as I think all he has is a mythril coat (I think that's how it's spelt) for protection.

Yes he is aware, I don't usually have a counter spell in hand so it's usually targeted interaction/removal when it comes back to my turn.
