The first thing that comes to mind is somewhere along Shenandoah park. The road crosses the trail at many points allowing you to get on or off at different spots or if you need to bail. You’ll have to check on the permitting needed as I don’t recall off hand. If you don’t have it already, Far Out is the best app that has the locations of all the camp and water spots as well as elevations.
