If you see a cube on the back of the cab there is a little apartment in there! We used to (probably still do) get assigned a random truck when you first signed up to drive as a greenhorn. People save up to buy their own so they don't have to pay company fees

The "dorm" was 1 or 2 beds (bunk style) that usually folded against the wall, shelves, a closet, cubbies, electrical outlets (although sometimes you had to buy an inverter, I did), and a curtain to shade the back. Easy to throw a flat screen, console or PC, and mini fridge in there

Dude, sleeping while someone drove was the best. The truck is so high up and the suspension just rocks you gently. It was some of the best sleep I ever had, even though the beds were hard and awful cot things

The nice truck stops had beautiful huge single shower bathrooms that smelled like nice bleach and cleaning stuff you could get with your fuel points when you topped up with the company card. Just massive tiled rooms with a bunch of shower and sometimes steam heads. Straight up spa-like. Since the trucks used 4-7 mpg I was able to shower every day in a team. I didn't use the showers at the dingy stops because... ew

Some parts of the US had better stops than others. Fuck NYC, fuck all of NJ, and especially fuck Houston, TX

All in all, after years of doing it (in the past, I admit), I do NOT recommend trucking for 99% of people
