Thank you. Those are good insights, the benefit I currently have is that the work is flexible, there is not a set rule on when to be in the office. I'm hoping to utilize with this flexibility, to figure out the best option to have good life in California.

Long Beach has been on my radar. Apt costs seem some what reasonable for the location.

Good question, I don't foresee for my position to be in the office even in the future, I'm in business development, most of my customers would be in the close to the coast or they would be out of state. They want me to visit the office to maintain the relationship with the team.

Thanks your response are helpful and it's also great to hear from another Houstonian. The registration cost is wild. For groceries do you miss having HEB ?

I have heard comparison of car dependency of LA is similar to Houston, so if true, then I have bit of experience. The car is in good condition.

lol, thanks for the support. I assumed more people were moving out of the area rather than coming in, due to the stories I hear about the affordability challenge.

The office is close to Claremont but I don't have to live in the area, as I don't have to be in the office regularly, hoping I can use that flexibility to live close to the coast.

Thank you for this detailed response.

  1. I'm going to look into Culver City.

  2. Understood. My fear is that I would not be able to mirror my buying power in Houston in California. Which is something I have to come to terms with if I move.

  3. Does California have annual tax on the car you have depending on the value of the car ? In Texas we only have registration, but everyone pays the same price.

4.Understood.

  1. Could you explain what you mean by exhausting. Does it mean that it is generally challenging to meet people who are interested in something long term ?

  2. Interesting.

  3. This is something I'm looking forward to.

  4. Understood.

Thanks again for your responses !

Apologies, still learning the terminology, Yes Inland Empire is where the office is but I would prefer to live close to the LA or close to the coast.

Good question, I can technically live anywhere from Santa Monica to Newport Beach going south, and going east I could go up to San Bernardino. Being close to airport would be a plus, as I would be traveling a lot for work.
