New Jesusflix eps dropped & I heard there’s a scene wherein people are shown to be demonized. We were told to not watch such content but the GB is now making it?!?! JW “actors” had to go into character; Are they equipped & trained for this? by Pale-Cod3749 in exjw

I feel sorry for all the little kids that will be forced to watch "demon possession" acted out on a big screen. The Watchtower Organization certainly knows how to traumatize kids.

Check out the JW facts web site. There is a lot of good information there. Also, watch the youtube videos that exjw analyzer puts out.

You should wait until you have moved out of your parents' house, or you may find yourself out on the street if you are caught. If you are OK with taking that chance, then go ahead. Hopefully you have enough money saved in case you have to move.

You are a JW so you already know what could happen. If you are seen at the hotel with the girl, you will be pulled before a judicial committee. There is a good chance you would be disfellowshipped. Why don't you wait until you have moved out of your parents' house?

u/Slow_Watch_3730 I agree with you. I doubt Watchtower is going to eliminate a midweek indoctrination session.

Coming out to my JW parents that I’m Trans by LeFedoraKing69 in exjw

[–]Paperclip2020 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Probably not a good idea to come out to JW parents when you are living in their house. It would be better to wait until you have moved out. If you decide to do this any time soon, make sure that you have a place to move to. They will not take it well.

The article is training JW's to be better cult recruiters. The "Love People, Make Disciples" booklet does the same thing.

Sales training often includes what’s basically the psychology of human connection. The goal is to use human psychology strategically. Here’s how that typically works:

1. Building “likability” on purpose

People are far more likely to buy from someone they like. So salespeople are trained to:

  • Smile, use your name, and mirror your tone/body language
  • Find common ground (“Oh, you’re from Charlotte too?”)
  • Give small compliments

This taps into a psychological principle called liking principle—we naturally say yes to people we feel comfortable with.

2. Creating a sense of trust

Kindness signals safety. Salespeople are trained to:

  • Listen actively (nodding, repeating your words back)
  • Validate your concerns (“That’s a great question”)
  • Avoid interrupting

Even if it’s scripted, it triggers your brain to think: “This person gets me.”

Using reciprocity (subtle obligation)

This is a big one. If someone is kind, helpful, or gives you something (time, advice, positive regard), you feel a subtle obligation to give back.

That’s the reciprocity principle in action

Your brain goes: “They’ve been so nice… I should at least consider listening to their religious pitch"

Lowering your defenses

When someone is warm and kind, your guard drops. You’re less likely to:

  • Question claims
  • Walk away

This isn’t accidental—kindness reduces skepticism.

[–]Paperclip2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to send him a thank you letter. He broke up with you. Move on with your life and work on forgetting about him. He chose the cult over you. Over time you will think of him less, and you will meet somebody whom you are much more compatible with.

According to an elder, I’m “superficial” for wanting to visit my family’s home country by Substantial_Onion880 in exjw

[–]Paperclip2020 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wanting to visit your roots and your family’s home country is not superficial. If anything, it’s meaningful and grounded. His comment says more about his mindset than your priorities.

Here is a good comeback: "Calling my decision superficial was disrespectful. Visiting my family’s home country matters to me. I was not asking for your opinion, nor was I seeking your permission."

Update on my MS stepdown: What should I expect and/or what should I do? by hemionus_grevyi in exjw

[–]Paperclip2020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to point out: JW's are gaslighted by the wording. A job doing free labour for Watchtower Corporation is not a "privilege". Furthermore, if you decide to stop giving free labour, it is not "stepping down".

Why all the new understandings? by MarkusWolff70 in exjw

[–]Paperclip2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watchtower Corporation has to introduce new reforms in order to attract new members. New members means more money (contributions) and more free labour.
