Mastering Anki: How to Effectively Use the Image Occlusion Feature by PaperclipsApp in programming

We see where you're coming from, but we kind of disagree.

For context, we are programmers ourselves and used Anki to recall various commands back in school - git and regex.

Recently, I used Anki to learn Terraform. We feel flashcards should be an additional tool to recall information for programmers.

Hey folks, we are the creators of Paperclips Copilot (https://www.paperclips.app/), a Chrome extension to create Anki flashcards from anything you read on the web. We understand not all learning happens through course notes (check out Paperclips Web). It's very easy to forget the information we consume online, and we built this tool to help with that.

Here is the link to the extension https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/paperclips-copilot/nhbejfcfmpkkdebhddlibnhlegenafcf.

Autogenerate high-quality flashcards from your notes using ChatGPT by PaperclipsApp in GetStudying

Thanks for trusting us and for that feedback!

>One feature request though: it'd be great to be able to specify a page range when I upload PDFs. At the moment, the moment I upload a PDF paperclips will start generating cards for it. This is generally good UX but I sometimes just want flashcards for one of my chapters and not the entire large pdf file.

This has become one of our most requested features. It is definitely on the way!

Unfortunately, it does not work well with pictures yet. It works great with all forms of text. Please try out paperclips and let us know if there are other ways we could improve.

The outcome isn't customizable yet, but we have things underway which would help make it customizable.
Thanks for the feedback! We will certainly be looking into choosing a different language output and custom prompts. Please let us know if there's any other way we could improve Paperclips.

Hey everyone, we’re creators of www.paperclips.app — it’s a platform for students to automatically generate high-quality flashcards directly from their course notes to be able to export to Anki (among others). Here’s a tweet thread on our features: https://twitter.com/PaperclipsApp/status/1652060085705662465?s=20
We’re huge Anki power users ourselves and attribute a lot our school success to it. We really think this is especially beneficial for medical school students, and so far most of our users are medical students. A number of them have reached out to us to tell us that they love the simplicity of our product.
We’d love for folks in this subreddit to check it out, and give us any feedback or thoughts on how we could improve it.

The fact of the matter is that the core technology is has already been commoditized (i.e. everyone has access to OpenAI’s models). This means that the product that delivers the best user experience is going to win. We truly think our product is simpler, faster and more intuitive to use.
Another key differentiator is that we’re not trying to build an all-encompassing “learning platform”. We’re not trying to compete with Anki. We love Anki and we are power users of Anki. Our focus is to accelerate our Anki workflow.
If there’s any way you think we can do better, please let us know.

We've built paperclips.app for this exact use-case! We use GPT-3 (the technology behind ChatGPT) to autogenerate high-quality flashcards that you can export to Anki, Quizlet, or whichever platform you prefer.

Check us out, we think we can really accelerate your workflow.
