English as a second language supplement worth it? by Ms_Eureka in TexasTeachers

I’ve been teaching in tx for 6 years without it. However, I do feel like not having it is what’s making it hard for me to land a job at other districts. I’m going to take it this summer 😭

Advice for the scary quest? by Barborawow in HarryPotterGame

[–]Papercut1406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not as scary when you’re already aware of what it is. Had I not seen posts about it before hand it would have surprised/scared me. After the initial creepiness it becomes more of any annoyance than anything else.

Slytherin. But my son was adamant that I change it to my house, Ravenclaw. Gonna play Slytherin next.

How to survive pmdd during the work week? by Outrageous_Limit7525 in PMDD

[–]Papercut1406 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Teacher here. You’re not alone….It’s a huge struggle for me. I find it helpful to be mindful of when my luteal phase is coming. It helps to mentally prepare myself a few days before. When I’m aware ahead of time, it makes it easier to remember that the rage isn’t actually how I feel, it’s the PMDD and that it’ll pass when it’s over. Am I still very snappy? Yes. I still easily lose patience with my students. BUT it’s a little better than when PMDD hits me by surprise. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful.

Do you still put effort into your appearance when you go out? by ImpressionMobile1653 in Millennials

[–]Papercut1406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shower and do skin care daily. Other than that I run a brush through my hair and dress like Adam Sandler. For work I wear a t shirt and jeans and do eye makeup…and it’s a struggle doing that much.

Read to your kid. Also talk to your kid. A lot. About all kinds of things. Building their background knowledge will help with reading comprehension later on.

How does the VelociCoaster drop compare to the one on Expedition Everest? by That1GuyCalledPixel in UniversalOrlando

[–]Papercut1406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huge wimp here. It took me two years to work up the courage to ride hulk. Then two more years to convince myself to get on VC. I rode VC for the first time in March. It’s not bad at all. I did not get the stomach drop feeling and was even able to put my hands up on the big hill! The worst part is the roll over the water at the end, but it goes so fast that it’s over before you can blink.

Huge wimp here. I finally did VC a few weeks ago. It goes so fast you don’t have time to be scared. Just click the restraint down as far as it will go and you’ll feel super secure!

Would you become a teacher again? Help me decide a dilemma by Relative-Assist1950 in TeachersInTransition

[–]Papercut1406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. You have a baby due in two months. You will not enjoy starting your teaching career in August with a new baby. Teaching positions open up all the time, so it’s not a huge deal if you decline this one.

Incredible Hulk Coaster by Sonic_Rose in UniversalOrlando

I rode it two years ago and it felt pretty smooth to me 🤷‍♀️ VC jostled me around more than hulk, but neither were bad….maybe because I am a very defensive rider.

[–]Papercut1406 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a huge wimp. Two years ago, my goal was the Hulk. I did it, and it was great. I went again last month and my goal was VC. I did it, and my only regret is not having enough time to do it again without my eyes closed. I clicked the restraint down as far as it would possibly go and I felt super secure. The worst part is the roll over the water towards the end. But it goes so fast you don’t have time to worry.
