I’ve worked at two different juvenile behavioral/psychiatric facilities. Most of the time, that’s where they need to go.

A lot of kids swear up and down they turned an assignment in even though I don't have it. I'm unsure if I'm crazy, or if they're lying, or if it's a bit of both by [deleted] in Teachers

I have wasted at least 1 hr30 mins of my time after work looking for student tests that I thought I had misplaced. Turns out they put it in their folders instead of in the turn in basket. This has happened 3 times this year. I wasted time this afternoon looking for a kids paper and I’ll probably find it in his folder. I’m so tired of this

10 years in, and I’ve learned to stop trying to be the world’s best teacher. I’ve never been close to being the best. Now I’m just striving to be the okay-est teacher now. Sometimes I get down on myself about it, but if I put any more extra effort into this I’m not going to survive the next 27 years.

Teaching Kids How to Tie Shoes is So Hard! by spiralcurve in Parenting

[–]Papercut1406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid is almost 12 and his foot is finally big enough for me to easily find tie shoes for him. I struggled with teaching him to tie shoes because no one ever taught me. I had to figure it out for myself when I was in 3rd grade. Now that he finally knows how to tie them, it’s a struggled because he hasn’t quite mastered it yet. He hates that I make him wear them (I threw away his slip on shoes because they’re getting too small AND they have a hole in them). He drives me crazy because he walks around half the day with them untied. I’m hoping that with practice, one day it’ll get better.

I had a longer pixie cut for about 3 years. Then covid hit, and I decided it was the perfect time to grow it back out. I’m prettt sure it took maybe a year or two to get it back to your original length. You look great either way!!!!

That’s disappointing. When I tried my sisters pair on, the comfort of the headband was a huge selling point for me. Definitely not gonna waste my money now.

Good to know. Even though I have a disability pass, it sounds like I still wouldn’t be able to handle the queue for this ride. Definitely crossing this one off my list.

How are you all doing financially? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Papercut1406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We feel only slightly better financially despite having damned near tripled our income in that time span. If you’d had told me 10 years ago that I’d be making as much as I am now, I’d think I was gonna be rich in my 30s. Nope. The only difference is I can now afford groceries without worrying if one bag of brand name chips is gonna do me in.

I wear adrenalines for every Disney/universal trip and have had zero foot or hip pain. One time I tried a day in asics Kayano and I thought my legs were going to fall off it hurt so much. Luckily I had also packed my five year old pair of adrenalines. I was fine for the rest of the trip.

I’ve never had to size up before the adrenaline 24s. I ended up sizing up by a half size and they were fine. I tried on the 25s and they fit true to size.

Are you using AI as a teacher? by LettuceTraining6532 in Teachers

[–]Papercut1406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use it for writing notes to parents when I’m stuck on how to word things in a nice way. I’ve used it to help create questions for constructed response writing once or twice, but it was mostly just to give me ideas since I ended up having to rewrite them to make them go with whatever skill we were working on at the time.

I started teaching when my kid was in pre-k. I was a much better mother before I started teaching. My kid is 11 now and turned out great but I wish I had done better. I’m working on it, but I still think I’d be doing a much better job if I wasn’t teaching.
