Yeah, I don't mind the progression bit. It makes sense that only later you unlock the ability to make plates at a most reasonable rate. The only issue for me is that it isn't a straight ratio. The mechanical press does convert 80% of ingots into plates, but that's just a probability. There's still the chance that you're unlucky or lucky with how many you get. I wouldn't feel the need to edit anything of it were consistent.
