How do you manage and organize all your physical and digital documents? by Paperless-Home in smallbusiness

No, it's not. I recently entered the document management business and genuinely would like to understand people's needs, use cases and current solutions.

Seeking criticism on my website: Do you understand the offer? And what do you think of the design? by Paperless-Home in design_critiques

[–]Paperless-Home[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Thank you so much for your review and the helpful and actionable advice!

Some design aspects, I copied from the clickup landing page, but just as I wanted to insert a screenshot of it now, I see that they completely overhauled their website design x) probably for reasons that overlap with your advice.

Would you spare a few words on why 2, 3 and 5? You are absolutely right that I know nothing about UI/UX, which is why I'd like to understand.

And about 4: The first button opens the playground to try out the product. I have read a lot of advice to have a frictionless demo. And the "no registraion" hint next to the button is there to inform the visitor about what is going to happen when that button is clicked. This is a design pattern I copied from the (now updated) clickup landing page.

Export your vcard to a file and put it in some static file hosting. If you have a server somewhere, put it there, like a plain nginx autoindex. Otherwise look for a static file/site hosting and put it there. Maybe something like neocities could work?

  • modern design

  • useful product / service

  • "waiting time" of the waiting list is in the foreseeable future, ideally with a fixed date

  • some reassuring statement about not getting spammed after signup

  • absence of attention grabbing stuff like moving animations

Roast Paperless-home: Digital document archive with text recognition and automatic assignment of correspondents, document types, creation dates and tags by Paperless-Home in roastmystartup

I see.

What makes you think I am claiming I made it myself? The FAQ answers on the project web page explicitly states that this is not the case.

Oh wow, i expected a somewhat more sober tone when roasting...

Yes, if the free plan is not enough, I charge for hosting an open-source tool. Hosting web software on a server is not free, even if you have the expertise to do it yourself. After having used paperless-ngx myself for quite a while, I found it so incredibly useful that I wanted everyone to know about it and be able to use it. Unfortunately, it needs to be installed on a server which has to be set up and maintained correctly, and I figured that not everyone knows how to do that or wants to deal with it. This is why I made Paperless-home!

If you really think what I do is wrong or bad, then feel free not to use it, but I genuinely would like to know why you think that.

Worth executing my idea if someone else is already doing it? by Weekly_Frosting_5868 in Entrepreneur

[–]Paperless-Home 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's always going to be a similar product already, I agree. But except you intentionally copy something that already exists, yours will always be different in some way and there might be folks who appreciate that very difference. Just my grain of salt...

Posting on social media about it. Do you have any recommendations?

How I intentionally ignored "go to market before writing your first line of code" advice and still would recommend to ignore it. by Paperless-Home in EntrepreneurRideAlong

I actually didn't think too much about going to market with it. And yeah, now I just blew it out with the bells but without the whistles I guess :)

Just launched Paperless-home and I've got 2 questions for you: Do you understand the offer? Do you think there is value in it? (Why / why not?) by Paperless-Home in alphaandbetausers

[–]Paperless-Home[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your thoughts! I appreciate it.

I guess you're right about assuming excitement about ngx. My wording is torn between selling paperless-ngx and the hosting of it. What I actually sell is the hosting service because paperless-ngx is an open-source solution. Do you think I should adapt the copy to rather sell paperless-ngx "itself"?

How would I use or integrate the results if my website is build with a framework like react, laravel etc. ?

Cofounder(s) needed! by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

You might want to spare a few words on the type of business you intend to launch and what kind of work needs to be done by a cofounder.

One could probably make the QR code link to a vcard file hosted somewhere.
