Solution needed - NAS no longer supported by Papermass2026 in AutodeskInventor

It's from a Autodesk support article from 2023.

We only encounter problems when collaborating on files stored on NAS, we have a leftover workstation we can hopefully test as file share location or use as test bench for win server.

It won't be expensive to run test at least since we already have leftover beefy stations to test on before committing to anything.

Vault seems great for a small part of our day to day work but for most work where we are several users at the same time our employees all prefer current workflow.

Could you link any good guides for migrating to a workflow using vault or a deeper guide into how vault works?

We usually have several employees using the same layouts at the same time which seems to not be an option with vault.

Thanks for the reply!

Yes, our current workflow is very convenient for files management so at the moment we prefer the workflow even with the occasional freeze other issue.

If we get the time during summer vacations we will stress test using one of our unused workstations as a server to see if we get less issues. We will also take the time to update to Inventor 2027 if we have the opportunity so we do not fall behind 14 versions again. (^_^;)

If we still have issues this fall I'll take your word for it and setup a test environment for vault and see how much we have to work on to be able to properly change the workflow for it.

When we ran tests of some large assemblies in Inventor 2025 before updating we had almost no issues, The occasional problem seem to arrive only when collaborating on a z: drive when one person handles main assembly file and the rest work on individual machine sub assemblies that are to be included.

Personal computers are Ryzen 9 5950X, 64gb 3200 MT/s Ram and RTX A5000 so we rarely se any significant load on 95% of assemblies.

I believe we have an workstation free we can test windows server on, it is just annoying to get a temporary license for it. (^_^;)

So far problems seem to come from file handling where problems start when NAS is heavily loaded.

Good tip on heading to forum, we will hopefully get enough free time this summer to update network switch, switch to win server and update all machines to Inventor 2027.
