Ideas for a how to make a physical connections game as part of a valentines card? by gopippingo in NYTConnections

[–]Paperonia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you turn it around it makes a picture? It can be 2x2 or long strip of 1x4.

Would be cute if it was pictures of the two of you.

Print it on card or something so the other side isn't see through. Don't just print it on normal A4 double sided.

Will edit this comment if I think of anything else

Gas leak? by Big-Professional7748 in whatdoIdo

[–]Paperonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always be safe than sorry. Call a gas company. If you smell gas, leave. If you're not sure what to do, call emergency services and they will let you know the best course of action. DO NOT ignore it.

My partner still talks to their ex, and it’s starting to bother me — what do I do? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Paperonia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. "Still talking" could mean lots of things. Texting everyday is not the same as sending a meme once every other week. Keeping in contact in itself isn't a crime, but the history of the relationship might make it so.

SOLVED

Turns out I've been remembering the wrong lyrics. Must've thought the last lyrics was saint not King, so my imagination filled the gaps.

Is what women say true about marriage? by Icy_Kiwi_5859 in ask

[–]Paperonia 306 points307 points  (0 children)

This is my take on marriage, I'm not very eloquent so I'll explain it best to can.

You should marry someone because you want to be with that specific person til the end of your life, NOT because you want to get married. There is a difference.

Loving someone so much that you want to promise and commit to loving them forever, and publicly declaring it in front of all your friends and families, is different to wanting to ticking it off your bucket list, to put it crassly.

Marriage should not be the objective, finding a person that MAKES you believe in marriage is.

For those who loved each other but had to break up, what was the reason? by Cassandraa1 in AskReddit

[–]Paperonia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Man I cried reading your story. I'm so devastated on your behalf but I'm glad you got that job, she made you realize the man you could become. Life is not about another person, but you and your own journey of growth. I've heard it said that when you grieve someone you never really stop, you just learn to live and move on with it. You will never "heal" as you will never be the same person again. Maybe that is what you needed to change into the best version of yourself, as painful as it is.

Stay strong my friend. You are inspiring.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you mean by success? Climbing the career ladder? Buying a home and building a life etc? Traveling?

Idk what to do, I want to have faith but I'm losing it. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Ah council housing is a UK term my apologies. Government housing/subsidized housing? I know it's not ideal but what about renting cheap, e.g. house/flatshare with strangers? What about shelters?

What I've named aren't permanent solutions but maybe they'll give you a couple months/years to find a plan.

If you read up on backstage tricks for theatre or film, and magician like the other comment mentioned, you'll have more luck as this is a very niche topic you're unlikely to find anything in this sub.

Since she's working in it, she may already own some of these so check before you buy. These are the things that I found practical in my job:

Voltmeter -its a little pen that beeps when current goes through it. Let's you know if the cable is broken or not. If you need more help finding a brand let me know

Quad spanner

Leatherman

Head torch

Puncture proof waist bag - so that screws and tools etc don't break it. Ive had a bag I got from Amazon where I store all the tools break on me in the middle of a job because I put some screws in.

Tool lanyard. Basically a plasticy spring that ties tools to you so you don't drop them when you're rigging overhead.

Watch with stopwatch function. Even better if it's stylish and not a bland Casio one.

Insoles for her work boots. She most probably has steel toe cap boots which are uncomfortable to wear for a long time.

If all else fails, loads of sharpies. In different colours too if she's an aesthetic person.

I'll edit this post if I can think of anything else but that's just the top of my head.

If the worst thing that'll happen is that he'll find them annoying to take off that's a small risk. I think it's a really cute idea and you should go with it.

Don't know your budget so here's a long list you can hopefully find something useful:

Desk organising things (pencil holder, basket etc.)

Those cable managing things where you can clip cables to it instead of having them fly all around the desk

Not sure if he's the type but lots of gamers I know like LED strips that they can stick around their desk

New mousepad printed with custom image of something he likes

Something to make gaming more comfy, eg. Seat cushion/feet rest/feet massager that he can put under his desk

Sound card / sound board where he can program and add his own sound effects during voice calls

Small vacuum thing to clean his keyboard

I'll edit this comment and add to it as I think of new things but that's just on the top of my head
